David Bowie, 69, has died of cancer, Jan 2016

I saw this on my Facebook feed this morning. I can't go back there yet. I mean, David Bowie is GONE and yet Facebook nonsense continues?

The world stopped.

Ok, just temporarily, but that's how I felt. I'll Like your goofy cat posts once I get over this shock.

He was awesome to the end.

Really sad news and such a shock. I feel for his wife Iman and his two children.

As an aside - his ex-wife Angie Bowie is currently in the UK Celebrity Big Brother house. She has been told of the news privately and has chosen to stay in the house. Apparently she and David couldn't bear to be near each other even 35 years after their divorce. I am guessing she didn't know - she has said some pretty mean stuff about him these last few days.

Yes I am wondering how this will pan out. She has no class

My top ten of David Bowie's Top 100 books (no particular order):

English Journey by J.B. Priestley
A Confederacy Of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
The Day Of The Locust by Nathanael West
1984 by George Orwell
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
Billy Liar by Keith Waterhouse
Room At The Top by John Braine
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
Vile Bodies by Evelyn Waugh
Raw (comic, ’80s)

In my mind I keep hearing him singing these lyrics:

"And he was alright, the band was altogether
Yes he was alright, the song went on forever"

Yes indeed.....it will go on forever
And he is all right.

My favorite Bowie cover (of a great Pretty Things song):

I just want to thank everyone for all the videos and songs posted here. It will be great to have this thread to come back to, when the shock isn't so fresh.

lol take that photo of Bowie and superimpose my face on it and you would have my haircut for most of my time at university back in the 70s.

Like I said, he was a big influence on my life.

I listened to a bit of Ziggy Stardust today and had a proper cry, and then I had to put it away. Some songs will hit you harder than others, IMO. Just the other day while I was driving I heard Imagine on the radio and was reduced to a blubbering mess in my car. The loss of our early musical icons is very visceral, I find.

From what I've seen so far, she's not a nice woman. Don't like her at all. I hope she can at least show some grace at the news of David's passing.

I read today that their son is estranged from his mother as well, so I'm not holding out any hope for her.

Just saw a video on Twitter of 100's of people gathered in London singing 'Star man'

Absolutely beautiful. Would like to share but not seen MSM share it yet so don't think I can.
