Hi, new member here I have a quick question, I recently borrowed a copy of Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi. When I returned it, the lender accused me of returning the wrong book, claiming their copy had uncensored images of the murder victims, while mine is more modern with revised and censored ones.
I’m certain I only had one copy of the book. Does anyone know if an uncensored version of Helter Skelter actually existed
The lender has been persistent in their claims, so any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm I don’t know…I have it on audio so no pictures. However the uncensored pictures of all the victims are all over the internet. I mean gruesome photos. So it’s not like they are top secret, never seen before photos. Does the lender think you exchanged all the photos and returned it? lol

Thanks for replying, I know it's silly really I am being harangued over the situation, like you say if I wanted the images they are available to find so I have no need to have kept the original book he claims existed but the man I borrowed it off is adamant that the book he gave me had the uncensored images in it and that the book I returned must be an updated uncensored version.
I really enjoyed the book,

I really enjoyed the book,
Fantastic book, right? Have you read And the Sea will Tell by Vincent Bugliosi? Another great one.

I guess it depends on how well you know the person, but they sound nutty.

Anecdotally, I’ve had several editions over the years (including a first, 1974), and have never seen a copy with uncensored crime scene photos.

I did a bit of research out of curiosity and can’t even come up with a rumor that such a thing ever existed, for what it’s worth.

The accuser should prove that it does, or pound sand; sounds like a scam (‘you owe me milllllliiioons for this ultra-rare edition blah blah..”)

No I will add that to my list, with you mentioning having helter on audio, I myself have had to turn to audiobooks lately due to nerve damage in my neck making books abit painfull, do you have any recommendations for audiobooks similar to helter skelter?

Thanks for replying, several copies and never seen it, interesting. I've looked online aswell and asked a few AI's but got nothing. I had to question it though as I'm sure it's happened to quite a few crime books with revised censoring. I will let him know, he must be thinking of another book surely.

Oh yes! I love recommending books. I’m the type that would be standing over your shoulder saying “it’s good, right?” I will put a list together and post it tomorrow. :)
