I’m starting to think that the medical examiner in the DR puts that on all death certificates...(sarcasm)

Did they all check in at the same time (May 25th) I thought I heard that this morning on news, but can't find it. Maybe I was hearing things.

Yes the MD couple and the PA woman checked in on same day. Same resort 2 different buildings (I think is the last story anyway). PA woman died shortly after checking in and MD couple was found 5 days later tho uncertain how long they had been deceased. There was a reported Facebook post from them on an excursion a couple of days before they were discovered so they couldn’t have died on the same day.

Seriously... I was thinking the same thing. Might be part of a cover up. Either that or they are all being exposed to the same thing that is causing heart attack & pulmonary edema.

Thank you, I'm getting all these cases mixed up. So, the article posted up thread says he had blood pressure medication (Harrison past death) and CNN reported this morning ( Investigators found "several pill bottles" of three medications, including the prescription opioid oxycodone, in the couple's room)- also blood pressure medication.

I wonder if someone is replacing their medication with something. Just a thought. Moo

They did pick up some medication at a local pharmacy so I guess that’s possible and why toxicology report is pending. But i’m Getting the impression that they are trying to dismiss the MD couple’s death as an accidental OD, double suicide, or murder suicide. JMO but wouldn’t be surprised if either of those r concluded once toxicology report comes in.

Replying to myself so I can attach the article I read today that is leading me to believe the DR is gonna say the couple’s death was self inflicted. They r now adding diagnosis’s to lead one to believe there’s was prior alcohol/drug use.

WOW!! That is really creepy. I know I always thought I was safe with a sealed bottle, but I guess not. Did anyone every figure out what happened to you, or what was in that beer is the more apt question. I am sorry that happened to you, and glad your husband kept you safe. MOO. Katt

Nobody was hurt in these incidents, but it shows how bottles can be tampered with.
Vodka sold in Toronto store replaced with water, LCBO changing return policies
    "January 15, 2016
TORONTO — The LCBO is changing its return policies after it says a bottle of vodka was deliberately tampered with and replaced with water, while police say this is one of numerous recent incidents across the Greater Toronto Area likely committed by the same person."

Woman claims she vomited BLOOD after taking ill at same resort where three US tourists died | Daily Mail Online

A woman who claims to have vomited blood after drinking a soda from the minibar of her room in the same Dominican Republic hotel where three US tourists have died says she believes someone may be targeting guests.

Awilda Montes, 43, visited the Bahia Principe La Romana last year with her ex-boyfriend.

The woman from Queens said that she took a 7 UP from her minibar fridge but that afterwards, she started feeling sick.

She vomited blood and had chemical burns inside her mouth which required medical treatment.

At the time, she thought she had mistakenly drank bleach that was left behind by housekeeping.

Now, in light of the deaths of a Pennsylvania woman and a couple from Maryland at the same resort, she fears there may be a more sinister explanation.

Interesting twist. Where did you read that and what did it say about that? Can't find it mentioned in the article you cited.

ETA: That article is a bit unclear. It mentions Schaup-Werner, then moves on to Day/Holmes, then back to Schaup-Werner, and then inserts some random paragraph about an alleged victim of an attack:

"García said authorities continued to investigate a third case that the victim recently made public on social media, detailing an hours-long assault by a man she said was wearing the uniform of an all-inclusive resort. He said the investigation was complicated by the woman’s inability to identify the attacker from a lineup of all employees on duty at the time. Garcia also said there were inconsistencies between the woman’s account of the events during the day of the attack, and her husband’s account."

At first I thought maybe they were referring to the woman who was cited a few posts earlier from her Facebook live video, but that woman was not traveling with a husband, so I have no clue whom the article is referencing! Anyone know?

    More notable quotes from article:

"'I was vomiting. I had stomach pains. The chemical burns were all over. I still don’t have sensation in my tongue,' she said.

"She said it started the day after she took a sip from the drink.

"'The next day I was nauseous. I was in pain, and all I could have was ice,' she said.

"A medical report from the clinic she visited said she had a 'pain in the dorsal and lateral region of the tongue, accompanied with vomiting'.

"She claims the hotel offered her a free dinner and a free couple's massage in exchange for her signing an NDA but that she refused."

If the symptoms didn't start until a day later then it definitely wasn't any sort of strong acid or base that you'd find in a household cleaner like bleach, which would cause an immediate reaction.

And then the hotel tries to bribe her not to talk? What the heck is going on?!

    This all sounds quite nefarious.

now that these stories are getting the media attention they deserve, people are speaking up.

A Maryland woman said that three American tourists dying at a Dominican Republic resort has her questioning the circumstances of her husband’s death in that country.

Dawn McCoy said she does not believe it’s a coincidence that her husband died in 2018 of pulmonary edema and a heart attack — much like the three Grand Bahía Príncipe resort guests who died within a week of each other, news station WTOP reported.

Tourist who died at Dominican Republic resort had a heart attack
“I started seeing all these other people that were dying of the same exact causes, which made me start to second guess,” McCoy told the news station.

For her wedding anniversary, she visited the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana last July along with her husband, David Harrison, and son.

She said her husband started feeling sick one night before he went to bed. He later woke up in the middle of the night covered in sweat.

“He couldn’t sit up, and he was making noises that you couldn’t make out,” McCoy said.

She said she tried to talk to him “but all he could do was mumble.”

“He was struggling quite a bit to get out of bed and to talk,” she said.

McCoy called the hotel doctor to the room but her husband didn’t survive.
