Given the resurgence of interest in this case, I thought this would be worth seeing again.
    The interview was from 2009.

    Hey cynic,

    thanks for the link.

I've always been interested in CW's comments and this interview is all encompassing. (Not having read his book, I've relied on tidbits of info, so
the youtube interview is ausome. ty ty)

I had sat down for a wee break, thought I'd transcribe a few notes for myself re bradycardia, and upon CW's mention of the birefringement material being talcum powder,
well, I felt a wave of nausea.

the forum has focused on wooden particles in our discussions of birefringement material, or at least that's what I had retained.

CW's comments from 'Write from The Author'

    The autopsy:

(1:26) Well, let me say, the little girl is found
There is a rope around her neck, interestingly, the,
underneath the rope is the, the sweater, jersey that she's wearing so .....
And the rope around the right wrist, also has the jersey underneath it
So think about that. In otherwords, no marks. right?,
are going to be left with the ropes.

    blood loss:

(2:27) 7cc, that is less, less than 1 1/2 teaspoons.
    (3:24) That's just seepage.

    bradycardia:

(5:15) The little girl died from a vagal reflex caused by pressure
of the rope around her neck.
And now, when she could not be resuscitated.
she could not be brought back to life,
that is when the blow was inflicted.

    External genitalia:

(6:15) well guess what? The injuries are for the most part old.
    They're chronic.
A good part of the hymen is, is absent, and that's an old, old phenomenon
It's been there for a while.
Then the pathologist reports, and I'm taking it right from the
    autopsy report.
He reports, superficial erosion of the vaginal mucosa, that's the lining,
the delicate lining of the vaginal canal, at the 7 o'clock position,
and that's been there for a while.
    That's not acute.
And then he finds microscopically, chronic inflamation, under the microscope.
That means it's been there for days,
and could be longer than days, but it's not fresh.
And then he finds also birefringent
    material under polarized light.
What that means is that you put a blue prism
in your microscope, and you'll see something that you won't see,
    with a regular microscopic light.
And you know what the most common source of birefringent
material is in your home and mine? Talcum powder.

Someone help me out here, please. Is he actually saying that the bifringement material was talcum powder? Or is he suggesting it was something else even though the most common b. material is talcum powder? I'm very confused about this statement.

Not necessarily. He is saying that the most common substance that would be classified as "birefringent" was talcum powder. No mention of cellulose, though.
It had been at least 3 days since JB's last bath, and any talc used at that time wouldn't be there and wouldn't be far inside the vagina anyway. But latex gloves have a kind of powdery coating. Seen in the autopsy it would look the same as talcum powder and unless analyzed itself, we can be sure it was bath talc. If gloves were used for parts of this crime and staging, it wouldn't surprise me to find it there.

Thanks, DeeDee. When I was listening to Dr. Wecht my first thought was latex gloves (when he mentioned the talcom powder), then I listened again and thought I misunderstood what he was saying.
After listening to this interview I am absolutely convinced the good doctor is right. Nothing else makes sense.

Disgrace ........people cover up because of professional pride!

I saw one ad the White's took out in one of the papers. In it, they didn't actually call the Ramsey's murderers, but they left no doubt about how they felt about the whole investigation. I'll see if I can't round up a link to that ad.

LW is Lin Wood, the Ramsey's attorney who loves to file litigation against anyone who speaks ill of the Ramseys.

Would someone please tell me what you understand the term ""birefringent/birefringment" to mean?
