Found Deceased UT - Dylan Rounds, 19, Lucin, Box Elder Co, May 2022 #2 *Arrest*

I imagine there are all sorts of scenarios where a young man could take off.

However, there'd usually be plenty of clues such as their financial affairs (using bank a/c, cleaned out bank a/c, purchased travel tickets, taken clothing, taken their tech items, confided in someone, said subtle goodbyes to people they realise on retrospect, sorted out their affairs etc). Plus being spotted on CCTV or by other people in different destinations.

Did DR have a dog? There's been no mention AFAIK but he strikes me as someone who'd have a dog or two.

I suspect a large reward could flush out info on this case.

BECSO update: It has been 11 days since Justin Rounds and I met with BECSO and were read the press release that we were told would be released "in a day or two" that has yet to happen. As small as it seems it is yet another lie. Instead of waiting for them to decide to release something here is what is going on:
  • SBI has joined the investigation
  • Weber County is assisting
  • Continued FBI assistance
  • BECSO will NOT release lead
  • There will be many items that were gathered reanalyzed with more advanced technology.

His family has had a $100,000 reward since June 26, I believe.

On July 18 by a page admin on the official Find... fb group posted:

There is no evidence of a voicemail left for someone at 4:00pm from his phone as has been rumored. The last phone call activity on Dylan's phone is as stated in the timeline at 6:51am with his Grandma.

More debunked rumors in that post:
It was also stated on the official page that Dyan had a key to the gate of the property with the grain truck and didn't rely on JB for access.

YIKES!

SEPT 29

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Authorities won’t relinquish their investigation of Dylan Rounds.

The 19-year-old disappeared on Memorial Day weekend. He was operating his farm in Lucin in western Box Elder County.

The mother of Dylan Rounds claimed authorities with Box Elder told her they will not turn the case to another agency to investigate. Candice Cooley said they would post their decision on Facebook.

But weeks have passed and there has been no official statement on Facebook from the sheriff’s department. Others pointed out that there may be a reason for the lack of transparency.

More at Missing in Utah: Family of Dylan Rounds continued to be left out of investigation

I hope that Dylan's family can reestablish a good working relationship with the local authorities and agencies supporting Dylan's case. This case has a small LE department who has likely never dealt with this type of investigation, doing the best they know how. Did they make mistakes? Perhaps, but there is nothing to be gained by developing an adversarial posture towards them.

It is SO, so, so very important for the family of a victim/missing person to maintain a positive and productive working relationship with local LE, and supporting agencies. It can make all the difference in the outcome.

When cases are unresolved, there is great anger and frustration - understandably. That anger has no place to land, and often ends up being directed at LE. This is a huge mistake.
Anyone riling the family up and encouraging disparagement of LE is not helping; quite the opposite.

Thank you to all the LE personnel working tirelessly to find Dylan, and resolve this disappearance; and to those citizens supporting them.

Amateur opinion and speculation

The onus should not be on the grieving, terrified family to "maintain a positive and productive working relationship" with LE. They are in the midst of a traumatic ordeal that no one expects or wants. They never asked to be put in this position, and they have never dealt with something like this before. They are victims themselves, and they have no choice but to look to LE for help.

For LE on the other, this is literally their job, and if they cannot or will not perform the duties of their job (investigating the incident, following up on leads, communicating with the family) in a way that is thorough, professional, and empathetic to what the family is going through, then they need to hand off the investigation to an agency that can.

IMO. MOO.

Theoretically, who could disagree with your position? The reality is that the lead agency isn’t subject to the same remedies as commercial firms are, and it is in the very best interest of the family to have a highly collaborative and positive relationship with them. Like it or not, that is reality.
We can be as incensed as we like, but it won’t help Dylan or his family. I am currently advocating for a family in a similar situation, and I can assure you the best path is not to have an adversarial relationship with the lead agency.

Amateur opinion and speculation

I have been thinking about the relationship between family and LE. It is a hard balancing act for sure.

I recently watched the interview with a family member regarding missing Brandon Lawson. They also had a terrible relationship with LE and realized it was wasted energy. Once they determined they were not going to get anywhere with that attitude, it helped them.

I can only imagine how emotional I would be with a missing son. However, the wasted energy being upset at LE is not going to help them find Dylan. JMVHO, I think they can keep those feelings to themselves and continue as they are to reach out to others for help without bashing LE.

BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah — The family of missing teen Dylan Rounds hopes new technology can help identify clues connected to his disappearance.

The 19-year-old from Idaho was last seen near his property in Lucin, Utah around Memorial Day weekend.

The Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office says homicide “likely occurred.”

Television stars, the Diesel Brothers, flew their helicopter to Lucin on Thursday to assist Dylan’s family with a drone they acquired from EquuSearch, a missing persons organization based out of the Midwest.

The Diesel Brothers have also agreed to match the family's $100,000 reward to find Dylan as well.

The drone is equipped with special lens that will take pictures to be sent back to EquuSearch to be analyzed.

“If Dylan was killed and if his body was buried out here, this has the ability to pick up on soil disturbances and anything that a cadaver could penetrate in the ground around it,” said Dave Sparks, also known as ‘Heavy D.’ “In fact, this technology is so potent that the federal government banned it for a while. There had to be a court ruling basically saying, ‘No, no, this is helpful. This is good, go use it.’”

Dylan’s family has received a lot of requests from people wanting to provide financial support to the search. They’re asking anyone who wishes to help out financially to donate to EquuSearch, so other families can use the same tools and technology to locate their loved ones.

My heart really goes out to DR's parents that have endured so much already, and as farmers, looking at October on the calendar, they know too well that winter will soon be nipping at their heels.

The idea of your loved one being lost and uncovered on a cold winter night is too much to bear. o_O

It's difficult to work with an official body when the trust is broken and mutual respect is lost. As parents, this wasn't a property line dispute where they were ruled against, this was their son that they knew with every ounce of their being did not voluntarily walk away-- in his bare feet!

And so refreshing to see in today's age, a family that still wants financial contributions sent to organizations that help others including Tim Miller's TXEQ, and not themselves personally. Wishing them continued health, strength, and support.
