CBS is reporting contact with Duncan AND that he/she answered yes to recent travel to west Africa.

That does not sound like a family member - surely they would have instructions to call for healthcare to come to them in their quarantine location rather than wandering about looking for walk-in centres.

I wonder if this person may have had contact like after Duncan got sick. One of the nurses or hospital staff at either hospital OR an EMT ? Speculating.

And this would be right on schedule with the 8 to 10 day incubation period, which I understand to be the most common period of time from contact to symptoms.

I've been doing the math right along side of you and was watching from first thing this morning. So sad for all concerned

Okay let's give the CDC another day or two to prepare a statement and call a press conference in which they claim there is NO RISK and double talk and then LAUGH about the dog in Spain.

Or instead the Health Department in Frisco can force "Frisco Health Department Experts" to do a press conference.

Maybe the homeless person who rode in the same ambulance as Duncan??

Linus. Yes. It doesn't seem ad if this person was being watched by CDC or even known to them as a possible contact. Given what I've heard...as this person was not quarantine d it most likely is not one of those who are considered family.

Okay so has this new patient actually tested POSITIVE for Ebola? And if so was he on the same aircraft? Something seems odd here. This white guy was recently in West Africa and he also met Duncan and well...hmmmm.

Can someone help me with the math because I'm missing something. If Duncan was infectious first on the 24th and was quarantined on the 28th, wouldn't that 10 - 14 days right now? Or am I calculating wrong?

ETA: And incubation is up to 21 days, isn't?

I hope the people that CDC is following were told what to do if they start feeling ill. I can't believe the person in frisco walked into a care center where other patients, etc were waiting. I hope the CDC gave them direction on who to call and what action to take. JMO

I don't mean to sound nasty but Louise and her family were told to stay in the apartment and they disregarded that so the fact this new case, apparently, just walked into a CareNow center makes me think it may be another relative as opposed to one of the medical personnel/first responders Mr Duncan had contact with.

That's an even scarier prospect, because now this person may have further spread it around the Dallas area.

There have been over a thousand loons across the U.S. reporting Ebola like symptoms.

They haven't even tested the person yet. He/she is on the way to the hospital. He/she supposedly had contact with Mr Duncan and is now exhibiting Ebola-like symptoms. Time will tell, I guess...

I was wondering when we would get a statistic higher than the 3400 deaths the news outlets have been reporting for the last week. As horrible as this number is, I suspect it is actually much, much higher.

Yes, I think that I read an article sometime this summer that the numbers may be higher because of unknowns in remote areas. jmo I bet the number of cases and deaths are higher than reported. They probably won't be able to get an accurate count until it's contained better.
