The death toll in Friday’s terrorist attack on a mosque in Egypt’s northern Sinai region has surpassed 300, including 27 children.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el Sisi has vowed to retaliate with brute force for the attack on Al Rawdah mosque that left 305 dead and 128 injured.

“What is happening is an attempt to stop us from our efforts in the fight against terrorism,” Sisi said in a televised address. “The armed forces and the police will avenge our martyrs and restore security and stability with the utmost force.”

Modern day attack comparable to the old Salem witch trials or destroying the religious practices of the Native Americans in the US or of indigenous groups around the world. And of course the Inquisition.

The techniques are new, but the mindset is th same. Destroy that which does not follow a narrow interpretation of a particular religion.

How do these perverted views of religion change? What are the tools that could be used ?

We see this in the US even now with religion used to persecute people.

Kathenotheism?

2017, almost 2018, and these attacks are still taking place?

Not exactly the utopia of the future (reason I mention it is I took a course in Utopian societies back in college super interesting stuff!)

Yes, it is terrible, but no more terrible than Americans slaughtering kindergarten children or concert attenders. These things are happening in third world countries and in the US. I don't think that the US can take the high moral ground here.

No surprise ISIS is behind this terrorist attack.

Just because ISIS is crumbling in Syria and Iraq does not mean they are any less dangerous.

If any, they have gotten more dangerous.
