Dozens of firefighters are tackling a huge blaze at a block of flats in London.

Eight fire engines were sent to the scene in Turin Street in Bethnal Green.

Flames were seen shooting from the windows with thick black smoke billowing into the sky.

Bethnal Green Road has been closed as firefighters tackle the blaze.

My God! Poor Londoners!

Thank God this fire looks comparatively small, and it's not a highrise, and as you say, thankfully no cladding, but still, it's frightening.

Hopefully the person in hospital will recover.

Yes thankfully it doesn't appear to be a major fire and people were evacuated in time.

The roof has been completely destroyed. IMG_0031.jpg

Indeed! Probably an uninhabited attic?

Roof insulation? What was burning so fiercely in this fire with such black smoke? A good job it was a top floor flat but as the roof now looks completely gone there will be more homeless by the look of it. And what started the fire this time?
