LAKELAND, Fla. - Polk County deputies are searching for a missing six-year-old special needs, non-verbal boy.

Authorities are looking for Adam Roach in the area of Carlton Arms Apartments on Shepherd Road.

Adam is described as four feet, three inches tall, 37 pounds with short brown hair and a missing front tooth. He is wearing a dark blue shirt with dinosaurs and dark blue shorts. He is not wearing any shoes, authorities said.

Sheriff Grady Judd says Adam walked away from his home around 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. Adam is wearing no shoes and has special needs. Judd says Adam is non-verbal and hard of hearing.

“Deputies are searching, and will continue to search, all the pools, all the ponds, and the surrounding wooded area. At this time, we believe he wandered away from his apartment on foot,” Judd said.

Polk County deputies found a 6-year-old Lakeland boy dead in a retention pond behind his house after hours of searching for the missing child, authorities said Friday evening.
