Well I'm not able to recognize anything in the photo. Just a white/grey blur.

That must haunt the pilot. The fact that he likely saw one of the teens and could’ve at least tried to rescue them. It’s so sad. These boys need to be found.

Yes, the photo was taken by his granddaughter flying in wind.
    I believe them.
He said when he first spotted it he lowered to 200ft
Said the object was as big as a midsize car hood,
tied together with a life jacket, with a "small person" on top of it.
    The person raised both arms.
BUT when he increased his altitude TO RADIO search crews
in Jacksonville, he lost sight of the person, according to the report.

What could’ve happened to the person? How did he lose sight of him?

Pilot says he saw person in water during Austin and Perry search; more details emerge from report

    Here’s the article.

The coast guard TOLD the pilot TO LEAVE.
He left thinking they would rescue the boy...end of story.
The coastguard never found the boy. The debris. Anything.
For other posters...the granddaughter took that photo from 3,000 ft
Evidently, like many of us, you take the photo after you process
what just happened. I can only imagine the pilot quickly ascended
(once spotting the boy) from 200ft to a good radio frequency.

They may have actually been able to
Find one of them and then possibly find the other. I still have hope but it seems as though they likely perished.

Depending upon the composition of the debris, and the way it had been strapped together, it's very possible that raising and/or waving his arms may have capsized the item. imho

To be clear, I believe them, I just can't make heads or tails of the picture.
