Found Safe FL - BW, 7, Madison, 17 April 2016

W showed up on the doorstep of a home in Jacksonville's Westside around 6:30 a.m. Monday asking for help, authorities say. There was no one with W when he knocked on the door. The homeowner did not know the boy but had seen his information in an AMBER Alert earlier in the evening.

Given how traumatized this victim is and the fact that he was allegedly forced to bathe by his abductor, his name has been redacted from the title and also from posts. Please use his initials from here on out.

Thanks,

Sickens me that that the man responsible is still out there....

Jacksonville man charged in 2016 kidnapping of North Florida boy

DNA from other child sex crime matches Jason Hayling to boy's abduction

MADISON, Fla. - A 44-year-old Jacksonville man has been arrested and charged with kidnapping and capital sexual battery in the 2016 abduction of a 7-year-old boy from a trailer park in a small town east of Tallahassee.

The boy, who News4Jax is no longer naming because he's the victim of a sex crime, was dropped off 12 hours later in a Westside Jacksonville neighborhood.

ARREST!

2 years after kidnapping, FDLE nabs suspect with DNA

Nearly two years after a little boy was snatched from his family in Madison, victimized and dropped off 12 hours later in Jacksonville, investigators caught a big break in the case through DNA evidence.

In January, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office contacted the FBI to ask for help in finding Hayling, a suspect in another assault involving a young child. Not long after, the FBI, working with counterparts in other states, found Hayling in Georgia. Jacksonville deputies arrested him Feb. 16.

FDLE and JSO, working with law enforcement in Madison County, began comparing notes and seeing similarities between the Jacksonville and Madison cases. The suspect descriptions were similar, and the boy had been found in a part of Jacksonville near where Hayling’s family resides. Hayling, of Jacksonville, also has family in Madison County.

“So the dots started connecting and everything started to make sense,” Perez said. “And the last thing we needed obviously was the concrete proof, which came with the DNA.”

January 2019:

Jason Lenard Hayling, 44, pled guilty on Thursday in Madison County to one charge of kidnapping a child under the age of 13. He was sentenced to life in prison on Monday and transported back to Duval County.

His other two charges that involve sexual battery have been dropped due to the maximum sentence already having being received.
