Massive search continues at Camp Blanding for missing soldier

Thanks for starting a thread CV. I've been following the story and worrying about his safety. The weather has been so hot and humid.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office says more than 450 men and women are involved in the search for a missing Alabama Army Reservist at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center.
At this time, they say have located some of the equipment that McLemor had on him, so they're concentrating the search on those areas.
Investigators say there's no indication that he went AWOL, as he's described as a 'squared-away soldier' that wanted to go out there and complete the course. Instead, they worry he may have pushed too hard in the heat.

It is so hot, humid and the area is swampy. The dangers which worry me the most are alligators and snakes.

Any indication of where they found his gear? I'd like to know if it was close to Kingsley Lake or not.

Smith said rescue teams were able to narrow the search area after recovering some of McLemor’s equipment. Within that area, Smith said wildlife threats are also a point of concern.
“We’re concerned because again, those of us that grew up in this area and have been out here and trained many times, we’ve already encountered water moccasins, wildlife you know that can bite you and grab you out there,” he said in the press conference. “You’ve got a lot of elements out there in that area where ultimately he may have ended up just by getting off the course.”

SEARCH CONTINUES: Crews in Florida will continue to search overnight for Army Reservist Cayln McLemore. The Memphis native is an Army Reservist and was in a military training class. He did not make it to a rallying point 11 am Wednesday. @LocalMemphis

Massive Camp Blanding search ends with missing soldier found dead

A massive search for missing National Guard soldier Cayln McLemore over about 1,000 acres of Camp Blanding’s woods and swamp ended Friday evening with the discovery of his dead body. He had been missing since Wednesday morning while partaking in a routine training class at the base near Starke.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said he was found in the woods and that the cause of death hasn’t been determined.

Thinking of his family. So sad.

Carolyn McLemore said she's trying to piece together what happened. Her son was in top shape, she said, running and working out in a home gym and obsessed with staying hydrated. He had a wall of bottled water and Gatorade at his house. He'd been in the Army reserves seven years, participating in several of the same kind of training exercises."

So I wonder what happened this time. Suicide? Foul play?
