If he says "the GOVERNMENT" one more time....!! Good grief!

Annoying for sure. But not a bad strategy. The odds that one person on a N Florida jury would hold the view that "the government" is somehow an evil entity that is designed to oppress and defraud are not low. DeCoste is basically trying to change the state from the good guys seeking justice to the bad guys who are arbitrarily throwing around their power to crush innocent people. Total BS IMO but if you can make that narrative stick with one person--mistrial.

..."Katherine is innocent of all three of these charges. To convict her you have to believe Luis Rivera."

Pretty much the crux of Magbanua's defense right here: "Desperate government. Desperate Luis Rivera."

"He could only think one dimensionally. He didn't see how this could contradict things later on because what he had was limited... He had the basics but when you get to the details, you realize there's no way that he was correct." #MarkelMurderTrialWTXL

"You usually get more of the story in the beginning and then your memory fades over time. His gets better over time." this what DeCoste thinks of Luis Rivera #MarkelMurderTrialWTXL

Again DaCoste is fibbing here - Rivera never said they were smoking marijuana in the car and there's no way for Trooper Downing to smell cocaine. Maybe he could smell alcohol but he may just have been phoning it in that day. And if he didn't get close to Rivera's face, he wouldn't smell it. Either way, this misleading of the jury is bad for defense.

Or the trooper was intimidated by a Latin King.....

Whatever the reason, that trooper is probably still here with us because he didn't ask any questions of them that day. I have to believe that Rivera wouldn't have hesitated if it had come down to it.

That trooper would have smoked em both. They don’t play. Problem would have been solved and Danny would be alive.

Woman accused of executing a law professor denies being part of murder-for-hire plot and claims her lover financed hit after he divorced his sister

10 October 2019

"Closing arguments in the trial of Katherine Magbanua and Sigfredo Garcia, who stand accused of murdering Dan Markel, began Thursday in Tallahassee court

"Markel, a Florida State University professor, was murdered in July 2014

Markel was shot twice in the head in his Tallahassee garage

Cops say Markel was killed in a plot orchestrated by his ex-wife Wendi Adelson's family so she could break the divorce terms and move to Miami with her kids

Magbanua allegedly helped get Garcia, the father of her children, and his friend Luis Rivera involved as hitmen in the plot

She denied involvement and blamed Markel's ex brother-in-law Charlie Adelson

Her brother Charlie and mother Donna are accused of giving Magbanua, Garcia and Luis Rivera a $100,000 payout for the killing

If convicted Garcia could get the death penalty, Magbanua could get life in jail

The Adelsons have not been charged in the case..."
