Florida homeowner beginning renovations finds human skeletal remains

Human skeletal remains were found inside a house Thursday in Delray Beach before the homeowner started renovation work, police said.

The homeowner and property manager entered the home on South Swinton Avenue near SE 1st Street before beginning planned repairs when they saw the remains.

Wouldn’t there be an on-site inspection prior to closing? How odd.
Do we know for sure the house had been recently bought? Could it be like a rental property that had been vacant for some time & the owner is now renovating to try to bring in new renters?
It definitely seems like no one has been on the property for a while, given that they found skeletal remains.

this is on south swinton near SE 1st, look like there was a 5 parcel sale within past few years. so the structures were probably uninhabited.

Yes I live nearby. Those houses have been vacant a long time, even sort of fenced off. They're in a prime commercial/multifamily residential property area.

Also, just a couple blocks away is the "bad part of town.

RIP some poor person, whoever you are.

I hope you get your name back.

Seems like a lot of times when remains are found in a house, it turns out to be a homeless person seeking shelter, or a drug overdose. Sometimes both.

I hope they find out who the person is very soon.

The skull in the waste facility makes me wonder about the Leila Cavett case. She disappeared from not far away and the suspect in her disappearance allegedly threw her body into the trash.

Oh wow. A waste facility. That reeks of homicide.

“This the second time in the past week remains have been found in South Florida. A week ago, a human skull was found at a waste facility in Pompano Beach.”

Huh, I hadn't made that connection. Do you remember which landfill they searched at the time?

I did a search on Pompano Beach and do not see a thread for the skull at the waste facility. Anyone else able to find a thread for that?

If there's not one started, go ahead and do it.

Dont remember, they probably searched the landfill where the trash from the gas station in Hollywood where she was last seen would have been brought to.
The gas station is a 15-20 minutes drive to where the skull was found. And since she has been missing for a good while now, the skeletonized skull would fit.

On the other hand, somehow there are loads and loads of missing people in that area and pretty frequent finds of bodies... so the chances it is her are slim. I hope they can ID quickly and give some family closure.
I think the skull needs its own thread.

They searched Mount Trashmore which is west of this location a bit.

The exact location where the skull was found is 1840 Northwest 33rd Street per this report:

I don't think it's Leila though. The dumpster she was allegedly thrown in was taken directly to Mt Trashmore based upon the FBI search. I think the sorting facility that is in question is for bulk waste they pick up with cherry pickers. Lots of landscape type waste there.

I found 6 arrest records for Lesly Augustin in Palm Beach, Fl, the latest one from May 2012. His DOB matches the DOB from the items found with the UID.

05/17/2012 https://florida.arrests.org/Arrests/Lesly_Augustin_7927976/

When searching for his name there were results for a LA Jr. I wonder if they are father/son.
