FL FL - Ellen Akers, 15, Ormond Beach, 18 April 1981

A while ago, I e-mailed Orange County, CA and asked if she could be the unidentified woman found in Dana Point on September 20, 1987. I still haven't heard back. I see a very strong resemblance between the two.

I get a permition error so I can't check

I was wondering if she had more than one pair of glasses and one purse. If so, maybe she took the alternates. No extra clothes, according to the article, but did she have any cash lying around that she would have taken? I mean, secret cash that her mother wouldn't know about. I know she asked mom for movie movie, but maybe she didn't want to use any of her secret cash? Just my thoughts!

Think I'm reading this correctly ... (4) different set of bones found in the area

Authorities believe the human remains discovered near an Ormond Beach subdivision last week close to the Flagler-Volusia county line could be those of a Volusia County woman killed by her ex-boyfriend more than five years ago.

Mandy Ciehanoski, 31, went missing in February 2011 and her ex-boyfriend, Michael Annicchiarico, pleaded no contest to her murder in 2014. Her body was never found,

Meanwhile in north Flagler County on Tuesday, crime scene analysts continued to dig out human bones found on the dunes in the 3800 block of Oceanshore Boulevard. Flagler Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jim Troiano said the bones appeared to be buried in a “shallow grave” about two or three feet deep in a section of dune decimated by Hurricane Matthew.

In an unrelated incident, a hunter in Volusia County also found what appeared to be human bones Friday night near Ormond Beach. Volusia deputies are investigating that finding. Also, bones determined to be at least 150 years old were discovered at a construction site in The Hammock in August.

Looks like 4 different sets to me as well, Folie. I think the ones to keep an eye on for Ellen's thread would be the one found by the hunter near Ormond beach. Those seem to be closest to where Ellen went missing. We just need more details on how long they have been there, sex, height, etc.

They think the one that was found on flagler Tuesday might be for Mary Lou Combs. I did not find a thread for her. I guess she went missing in 2003. Not sure there is a connection, but there was a local story about that. Just a suspicion so far.

Strange that we were discussing the findings last night and then the article had a few more sets to be identified ... Geez!

Haha, I only made it through the first couple episodes of TKS and I had nightmares. Decided I can't even go in those threads anymore. I'll look for an UID thread for those remains in the UID forum. A mod can always move it over to the appropriate SK thread. ;)

I do not think anyone has been named for this last set of remains...

I hope i did not mix them up. I am local, and think I have kept it organized. I think these are the three remains found, other than the 150 year old one that was not publicized locally until recently. We don't have a killing field here. we are quite quiet mostly.

Thanks, I could not find a thread for her either so started one: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...2-Palm-Coast-Aug-2003&p=12971729#post12971729

The problem with Mary Lou Combs is her car is missing. So if she is found in the dunes near her home, who took her car. Of course we do not know if its her. I was here during the 2004 Hurricanes and I remember being at the beach looking at the washed away dunes. Some ladies came up on a golf cart and looked down at some freshly uncovered sidewalk..and one said..that is the sidewalk we walked on in the 60's. So I suppose the dunes and beaches change quite a bit over time. btw, soon after 2004 the dunes and beaches rebuilt. Flagler has serious problems with beach erosion. They have had to ask for federal money to rebuild the road along the coast. I guess they built the road too close to the beach. After Hurricane Matthew their coast road was closed I guess for two weeks. Those bones could have been quite deep. If it is Mary Lou Combs, how did she stay covered during the 2004 storm. I live 14 miles south, and Flagler was hit then too. Their Pier was nearly cut in half.

Yes that is the set I would keep an eye out for more details and whether they could be Ellen.

It says Ellen's mother discovered her missing when she came home from work the following morning...but that her stepfather was the one to report her missing later that day. Where was the stepfather during the previous evening/overnight?
