The Jupiter Police Department said on March 26 they opened a missing person case for 51-year-old Gretchen S. Anthony, who was last seen on March 20 at her residence on Sunshine Drive in the Mallory Creek community of Abacoa.

Police said evidence later revealed that David Anthony was responsible for her disappearance and homicide.

Investigators later located David Anthony in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree murder and kidnapping.

I wonder why they think she was murdered if they don't have a body. Sounds like hubby was fleeing for the border.
I wonder the same thing until I read the Jupiter PD post on FB:

The Jupiter Police Department

". . .Gretchen’s vehicle, a dark blue Mini Cooper, was recovered in the parking lot of the Jupiter Medical Center; however, Gretchen was not located within this area. During the investigation, a cadaver dog was utilized and alerted within the residence of Gretchen Anthony.

On March 31, 2020 detectives located David Anthony and his vehicle, a black Nissan Frontier, in Las Cruces, New Mexico where he was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and kidnapping. While processing his vehicle for evidence, a cadaver dog also alerted on David’s truck. . ."

Her last post is sad, as it was the day before she was last seen. It is a repost:

"When chaos is all around you the wisest choice is to create peace within you . . ."

It also seems that she has a daughter. I hope the daughter is in a safe place at the current time.

Two days before Gretchen was last seen, David bonded out of jail after being detained in Riviera Beach on a charge of violently resisting arrest, the newspaper reports. The bond included the requirement that he not leave Palm Beach County.

However, on March 31 David was located about 1,900 miles away in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was charged with kidnapping and second-degree murder and remains in a New Mexico jail awaiting extradition to Florida.

Suspect husband in missing woman's murder threatened former wife

Anthony, who WPBF 25 News discovered previously went by the name David Anthony Deutsch, was married for years to another woman he'd known since his teens.

Court records show Meredith Deutsch filed for a domestic violence restraining order against David Deutsch four years after their divorce in 2010, writing "On two separate occasions I received threatening text messages."

It is unclear if Anthony's new wife Gretchen knew about his violent past or long string of minor arrests dating back two decades before they married outside of Las Vegas in 2015.

Gretchen was a Jersey Girl, I read this my home newspaper tonight

Florida law enforcement are investigating the disappearance and presumed homicide of a former West Long Branch woman who was reported missing more than two weeks ago.

Gretchen S. Anthony, 51, is believed to have been slain by her husband on March 21, the Jupiter Police Department, Palm Beach County, Florida, said in a release. Her family reported her missing March 26.

Gretchen Anthony grew up in West Long Branch and is a 1987 graduate of Shore Regional High School, according to her Facebook, public records and classmates who spoke to the Asbury Park Press.

Attempts to reach her immediate family were not successful. Her mother and a twin brother live in Florida. She has a sister who still lives at the Shore, according to public records. She also has a 12-year-old daughter from a previous marriage.

Friends said the child is now with Gretchen Anthony's mother.

"She was the most beautiful person inside and out. She had the best heart and soul and would do anything for anybody," said Chris Schiafone, 52, of Toms River, a former classmate and friend of Gretchen Anthony.

Schiafone said he believes Gretchen Anthony moved to Florida in the early 2000s.

WHY. I will never be able to understand the two neighbors who heard her scream, and the attack yet did not pick up their phones and call 911. SMH. Something so wrong about that. MOO

I wonder what he was being arrested for when he violently resisted arrest? Then bonded out 2 days prior to last time she was seen. Did she have him arrested for something? Had she possibly taken out a restraining order on him and he violated it? I'm very curious about this arrest.

Husband Arrested for Alleged Murder, Kidnapping of Missing Wife Gretchen Anthony

I believe that arrest stemmed from the following (according to the link above):
The defendant (DA) was in legal trouble very recently. Riveria Beach police said that on March 14, an officer saw him “acting suspiciously by approaching young girls (approximately 15 years of age), pacing back and forth and sweating profusely.”

The officer claimed to keep an eye on the suspect, and noticed that black electrical tape was used to alter the defendant’s vehicle tag, turning a 6 to an 8.
According to police, the officer questioned Anthony on how that happened, and the defendant suggested that his 12-year-old stepdaughter was responsible. She liked to play with tape, he allegedly said.

The long and short it is that Anthony started acting really nervous, and tried to leave. This escalated to a confrontation, with the defendant allegedly slamming his car door repeatedly onto a female officer’s arm.

Anthony was charged with resisting an officer with violence. No defense lawyer is named in that case.
