5:55 p.m. update: Jupiter police said they found what they believe to be the remains of Gretchen Anthony on Friday afternoon near Bush and Indiantown roads in Jupiter.

I do wonder if those 38 years will be 38 years... Will he be subject to an earlier release on "good behavior" or some such thing? If not, he would certainly be at an advanced age if he lives longer than his sentence.

It sounds like the remains will turn out to be hers. And the family can have a burial or whatever service, etc., they may want to have. Funerals and/or burial services are often something that allows loved ones to go to the next stage of grief. And certainly to each his own...
But this should be helpful to her family so that they can at least have her remains under their care and control.
Positive thoughts for all of those who loved and will always miss her.

When I saw there were new posts for Gretchen’s thread, my heart sank. Although, we knew the outcome, it’s still sad.
I do hope this provides closure & answers for her family.

David Anthony, 44, appeared in court on Monday and pleaded guilty to kidnapping and murdering his wife, Gretchen, in exchange for a 38-year prison sentence.

• Prosecutors were not pleased with plea deal but said Gretchen's family signed off on it so they could give her a proper burial

'It is never ideal to have someone who commits a crime like this get anything less than life [in prison],' he told reporters. 'This settlement was what the family wanted. This deal was in place because the family wanted a proper memorial, a proper burial for Gretchen.'

An autopsy will be performed on the newly uncovered body to positively identify it, and determine the cause and manner of death.
