I don't believe this woman's story at all. What, was she planning to leave her on the floor for as long as she lived? Months? A Year maybe?

SARASOTA, Fla. — A woman was charged with leaving her mother to die languishing on the floor for two weeks after she suffered a debilitating fall.
Helen Frizzell, 94, died hours after she was found by authorities in November. According to police, her 65-year-old daughter brought her food, cleaned her and used bug spray to keep away swarming insects.
Carole Mae Frizzell told police she could not lift her mother, who insisted that she not call 911.
Authorities did not arrest Carole Frizzell for more than three months because they were awaiting an arrest warrant and were unsure how to charge her.
Records show she was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with felony neglect of an elderly person. She was released after posting $50,000 bail. Records do not indicate whether she has an attorney, and she did not have a listed home phone number.

That's really sad. I'm betting the daughter had a diminished mental capacity, because my mind won't let me believe a normal person could do something like that. Not to mention the article states something about them "keeping to themselves" and "rarely had visitors".

I kinda believe it. My great granny fell in her kitchen and while the phone went down with her, she refused to call help because she was embarrassed. She layed there for 3 hours until one of the cousins checked in on her. She refused all help until we literally forced her up. It was a mess. She was so angry.
She is slowly slipping in the mind but she is well enough to stay alone with lots of attention plus she is ashamed of getting old. *shrugs* It is very sad but it does happen.

I am torn on this one I mean the daughter herself was not exactly young...
BUT she was ok enough to try to buy a car?

Yeah but there is a difference...you guys DIDN'T leave her there two weeks.
I don't care who falls and asks me not to call for help. I'm going to do it anyway. They can get angry with me all they want.

Amen!

The neighbor across the street from my childhood home fell and broke a hip when she was only 56 years old. She refused medical care and became bedridden. Her leg never healed properly and she never left that bed. She succumbed to pneumonia a few years later. Her husband wasn't happy with her decision but honored it.

I thought it was terribly tragic & sad that the woman was so overwhelming fearful of doctors that she died young and suffering.

I can understand refusing medical care...I cannot understand someone leaving someone laying the floor. She could have gotten medical help or a neighbor to at least help her back in bed.

Alot of older people are like this. Count my grandmom and my mom in. Like Pixies gram myine in her 80's fell with the phone and broke her hip. I run up there and can't call 911 until I get halfway there as there's no way they could have gotten in. Met at the front door and we go in and don't my grandmom says she isn't going. She was so mad at me. Eventually I coaxed her. My mom tachyacardia and not her first by far. She can't speak yet put a hand up like "Leave me alone and if you call 911 you will be sorry". Guess what? I do now. EMT's are saying her heart rate is 310. 310 and the woman don't wanna go to a hospital. My dad died in front of us and he was only 62. I knew it was not his sugar. I knew it. Nobody call an ambulance. We're trying everything and my dad did die. On Christmas morning. That guilt stays with me and now I don't listen to my elderly relatives. I am not taking the rap if they die. No way. Meanwhile though heck no wouldn't leave anyone on this earth laying on a floor like that. God no! Sorry for the rant.

"Helen Frizzell was found after her daughter tried to buy a car for $15,000 in cash and aroused the suspicion of salesman Steve Forshaw. He went to pick up Carole Frizzell at her home to finish the transaction and she told him her mother was dying.
Forshaw called 911 and said he was escorted into a back room where the elder Frizzell had fallen.
"She was lying on the floor collapsed over," Forshaw said. "She looked like a mannequin in the corner. I said 'Is she OK, is she alive?' She poked her and yelled 'Mom' and she groaned."
Neighbors said the Frizzells kept to themselves and rarely had visitors."

The daughter seems to act like it is completely normal for her mother to be laying on the floor. (from how she acted when the salesman was there). It's not like she was trying to cover up anything. She does sound like she's not all there though.
I would call the dang ambulance!!
