MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WWSB) - The parents of a man missing since May 25th are growing increasingly desperate for answers.

"I am hurt. I don't eat. I don't sleep.", said Laverne Joyner. It's a constant struggle for her as her son has been missing for nearly two months.

The family held two vigils within the last month pleading with the community to help find the whereabouts of their loved one. Jeremy's birthday was on Monday, this week, and still no word from him. His mom pointing out that Jeremy would contact her every few days.
"Whether it be a text or a call, He's good about calling."

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office said from the beginning that Joyner is an adult and that there is no evidence of foul play or that he is in danger, even though his car was found abandoned at a church in Bradenton last month, but his family members believe otherwise.

"Something happened to Jeremy and someone put the car there just so it could be seen."

It has been almost two months since 37-year-old Jeremey Joyner has been seen, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Joyner has been missing since May 25. Deputies believe his disappearance is “suspicious in nature” but they have no evidence of foul play or that he is in danger.

His family reported him missing in May, after he took off in a family member’s vehicle, said Dave Bristow, spokesman for the sheriff’s office. The vehicle was found in a parking lot in June, but Joyner is still missing.

The first vigil had come and gone by the time a DNA test confirmed the body was Joyner’s. It was no longer a missing persons case. Detectives began investigating it as a homicide.

The news, which was what the family had feared all along, came as a mixture of heartache and relief, they said.

His family is still looking for their answers, and justice.

And they want the community’s help.

While the “Justice for Jeremey” shirts are now a little more faded, their message still rings true.

On Saturday, near the fifth anniversary of his death, they again planned to hold a candlelight vigil to raise awareness, gather support, and most of all, to call upon the community for answers that have shifted from “where is Jeremey Joyner” to “who killed Jeremey Joyner? And why?”
