"Persons Of Interest" Named In Missing Woman Case

Police have identified two 'persons of interest' in the disappearance of a long time Davie resident, a disappearance they're calling "suspicious."

Jill Dornbush, 62, was last seen in the company of 48-year-old Lazaro Falco and 57-year-old Delia Padron on Friday. Surveillance cameras at a Davie Walgreens captured pictures of Dornbush walking into the store with Padron, picking up a prescription and leaving. She was also seen Friday with Falco.

Neighbors and friends say Dornbush was a dedicated employee at a nearby McDonald's restaurant and loved to help others. She had recently started helping a homeless couple, they say.

"We did find blood on the carpet and blood spatter on the door and they tried to cover it up with paint so we saw paint smeared," he said.

Police won't confirm what they found inside in the apartment -- only that it makes them believe Dornbush is endangered. They said her car, a light blue four door Honda Civic with license plate number I99 1PX, is also missing.

Anyone who has seen Dornbush or the people she was last seen with is asked to call Davie police Detective Corns at (954) 693-8280 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.

Police find 'persons of interest' in Davie woman's disappearance
Jill Dornbush's vehicle also recovered, police say
    11:54 a.m. EDT, May 5, 2010

Jorge Antonatos, 30, who lives two doors down from Dornbush, said he became concerned by her unusual absence all weekend. He said he went inside her condo Monday morning and saw what looked like blood on the walls, carpet and door.

"Over the carpet and walls was, like, a white paint trying to cover [the blood] up," Antonatos said.

POI's have been found WITH Ms Dornbush's car: http://cbs4.com/local/davie.Jill.Dornbush.2.1676279.html
Neighbors and friends say Dornbush was a dedicated employee at a nearby McDonald's restaurant and loved to help others; they say she had recently started helping a homeless couple.

"Giving them money if they needed money, since they lost their place she would let them come here and take showers and things like that," said neighbor George Antonatos. "Anything they needed they pretty much abused her to the fullest."

This just absolutely breaks my heart. What on earth could their motive have been? I've seen cases on TV about creeps moving in on a naieve older person who had no family around and a lot of money, and gradually gaining their trust to the point where the senior will sign everything over to them, then the perps kill them to get the money. Jill works at McDonalds so I'm thinking she isn't one of these rich elderly types at all, just a regular person who has a huge kind heart and a desire to try and help people get back on their feet. Looks like they'd get more out of her by continuing to use her as they HAD been, than to harm her :-( Of course it's possible she does have a lot of money socked away, and was just working at McDonalds to basically get out of the house and be around people, too.

Davie police detain homeless couple in missing woman case
    Posted: 3:59 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010

A homeless couple identified as "persons of interest" in the disappearance of a Davie woman were found at a Hialeah McDonald's on Wednesday morning after employees who had seen news coverage about the case recognized them, police said.

Delia Padron, 57, and Lazard Falco, 47, entered the McDonald's restaurant at 460 Hialeah Drive at about 7 a.m., and employees realized they were the couple shown on the news, according to Davie Police Sgt. Rob Choquette. The employees alerted a police officer who had just walked into the restaurant, and the officer detained Padron and Falco, Choquette said.

The couple was taken to the Hialeah Police Department. They are being questioned about the disappearance of Jill Dornbush, 62, whose neighbors in Gateland Village, in the 3700 block of Northwest 78th Avenue, reported her missing on Monday.

Police still haven't found Dornbush, but Choquette said the couple is cooperating with investigators.

Lazard Falco, 47, and Delia Padron, 57, were denied bond by a judge in a Broward County Court Thursday morning.
According to authorities, Wednesday morning, someone in a McDonald's restaurant recognized the couple and notified police. Falco and Padron were arrested and charged with first degree murder in the death of 62-year-old Jill Dornbush.
Detectives said Dornbush opened her Davie home to the homeless couple, where they allegedly stabbed, strangled and dumped her body in a dumpster after she wouldn't let them use her shower.

Homeless couple accused of killing Davie woman, placing her body in Dumpster
Pair sought for questioning in disappearance of Jill Dornbush, 62, arrested after being spotted at Hialeah McDonald's

    1:21 p.m. EDT, May 6, 2010

According to an arrest report, Padron told police that she and Camejo walked to Jill Dornbush's apartment last Friday to retrieve belongings they had left inside her home in Gateland Village, in the 3700 block of Northwest 78th Avenue.

Dornbush — who a neighbor said was recently trying to distance herself from the couple because they had been bothering her for money — reluctantly allowed them inside her home.

According to the report, Padron said that an argument ensued between Dornbush and Camejo. The report didn't state what the argument was about.

Padron said that Camejo grabbed Dornbush from behind and held her for about five to 10 minutes, the report said. Padron said that when Camejo released Dornbush, she fell to the ground and "she was dead." Padron said that she and Camejo then wrapped her body in a quilt and secured it with tape, the report said.

Padron said that the couple carried the body out of the apartment and placed it in the trunk of Dornbush's car, a light blue 2006 Honda Civic, the report said. The couple then drove to a nearby plaza and placed Dornbush's body in a Dumpster. Padron said that she and Camejo decided to keep Dornbush's car so that they could drive to Hialeah, the report said.

Detectives said Dornbush opened her Davie home to the homeless couple to help them, and she wound up duct-taped inside her own bed sheets before being dumped in the neighborhood dumpster. The contents of that dumpster have since been incinerated, and it remains unknown if police will ever find her body.

Murder defendant claims victim stabbed herself in the neck

A homeless man accused of murdering a Davie woman in 2010 took the stand in his own defense Thursday, stunning the courtroom with his claim that the victim stabbed herself so that he could go to prison for the rest of his life.

Oscar Camejo, who is on trial for the murder of Jill Dornbush, 62, denied the prosecution's claim that he choked and stabbed the victim during an argument after Dornbush refused to allow him to use her shower.
