"...Below are updates about the trial:

5:30 p.m.

Jury selection has wrapped up. Of the 10 potential jurors, six were selected; five women and one man.

Selection will resume at 9 a.m. Friday

4:30 p.m.

There were no cameras in the courtroom, but Salman was sitting with a black sweater and her haired pulled back.

More jurors than not were kept for consideration.

All the jurors knew about Pulse, but none really knew much about Mateen's widow.

Survivors and families of the victims were in the courtroom.

Barbara Poma, the owner of Pulse, said it was an emotional day.

“We want justice to be served. We just don't know what that is yet until we hear all the facts of the story of what happened,” she said. “We don't know the facts today. I think we have to be patient. I think we need to listen every day and learn as much as we can.”

Poma said as long as the victims and families are supporting each other throughout the trial..."

Noor Salman trial: Potential jurors questioned about Islam, news coverage of case

"Seventeen potential jurors were questioned in Noor Salman’s trial Monday, with seven of them staying in the jury pool and eight excused.

U.S. District Judge Paul Byron held off making decisions on two more jurors, who said they have to check with their work or their family to see if they will be able to sit through the three-week trial...

Salman, who has been animated in court, looked to her lawyer with eyebrows raised and nodded when another woman described beliefs that some Muslims are influenced to do bad while others are peaceful...

Jurors who knew people killed or injured but said they could remain impartial were kept in the jury pool.

Byron said he is looking to narrow the pool to about 56 people, from which a jury of 12 and about six alternates will be chosen. Another 18 jurors are expected in court Tuesday, Byron said.

Last week, Byron said testimony in the trial likely will begin about March 12 or 14, and he expects the trial will take three weeks."

Over the trial’s first four days, potential jurors have faced questions on a variety of topics, from their feelings about the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, to their views on guns and knowledge of the massacre at Pulse....

Testimony is expected to begin next week and last three more weeks"

Defying Evidence, Pulse Shooter Widow Claims Omar Mateen Didn't Target Gays

"Defense attorneys say there’s no way to know if Omar Mateen targeted the LGBT community when he attacked the Pulse nightclub in Orlando and instigated one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history. Attorneys for the dead shooter’s wife have asked a judge to prohibit federal prosecutors from suggesting that motive for the massacre, and say Mateen’s phone records show evidence to the contrary....

Swift’s motion says prosecutors should not be allowed to say Mateen targeted the gay community because he also visited Disney Springs near Walt Disney World the evening of the attack and loaded directions in his phone to EVE Orlando, a high-end lounge that does not specifically cater to LGBT attendees.

Salman’s legal team says data obtained from Mateen’s cell phone indicates he had no firm plans to go to Pulse...."

Inside federal court, as each potential juror is questioned the so-called jury pool is taking shape for the trial of the Pulse shooter's widow, Noor Salman.

Ten more people were added to that pool, from which the actual jury will be impaneled, Tuesday....

The court is looking to get about 60 people in the so-called jury pool before the jury is seated.

The judge has said he believes jury selection is on target to be completed by the end of the week, or early next week, and that testimony will begin by or before March 14..."
