Just catching up still but before I forget, maybe they found something during an initial search...reminded of when LE had Jessica Ridgeway's backpack...we didn't learn til the end that it contained her urine soaked clothes and glasses...THAT'S how they initially really knew something really bad was up. Going back to read now.

Has anyone come up on crimes in Louisiana from 2013 that may fit, I immediately thought of JL but that was a year earlier.

Robert Letroy Howard, 38, is being held on a $600,000 bond. He was booked into jail around 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

ETA Sounds like info that may come out of PC at 8:30
Sure is a high bond to not be related IMO too high for a RSO to be picked up on for violation, even most sex crimes do not get that large a bond.

the technical side of this case was critical to solving it

He was known to Naomi and a frequent visitor to the complex
 
Another tragedy that could have been avoided with harsher sentences for rape! So glad justice will be swift. I hope he gets death this time.

Defendant has made statements but they will not address what they were......He would have stated I am not going to address whether or not he made statements if not statements were made.

To recap.

Suspect was originally arrested in 1999 for the rape of 2 adult women, not sure if they happened at same time. Got out I believe in early 2013 so he could have something to do with 2013 case that they refer to if it is unsolved. I am pretty sure what ever he may have done was around the gulf coast area Alabama, Louisiana, Florida and possibly Mississippi

So he is a sexual offender probably looking at easier targets since his original crime involved adult females.
 
BREAKING: Alabama man arrested for murder of Naomi Jones

Robert Letroy Howard, 38, of Brewton, Ala., is a convicted sexual predator, sentenced in 1999 to 15 years for 2 counts of sexual assault and rape.

Morgan noted that Howard was identified as a possible suspect during a neighborhood canvas of the Aspen Village Apartments where the young girl lived. His vehicle was captured on video surveillance cameras by residents near the creek where Naomi’s body was found by fishermen. Morgan said Howard was in Pensacola visiting his girlfriend’s residence at the apartment complex on East Johnson Avenue.
