There's not much online about this murder. The Orlando Sentinel originally reported that:
In the third attack, Shawn Mulkin, 44, died at about 10:38 p.m. after two armed men forced their way into his home at Hawthorne Groves Apartment Homes on Good Homes Road, reports said. A neighbor, Daniel Canada, 22, had been smoking a cigarette outside when one of the robbers thrust a pistol into his face and ordered, "Don't look at me. Turn around," according to reports.Once inside, the men forced Canada, Shawn and Eva Mulkin, 45, to lie on the floor while they ransacked the apartment. That's when Shawn Mulkin jumped up and fought with the taller of the robbers, who appeared to be about 16 years old and about 6 feet tall, reports show.
The fight spilled outside, where the robber shot Mulkin, apparently striking his left hand before inflicting the fatal wound, reports show. The killers fled.

The Orlando media never really followed up on this crime. I'm told that the police circulated a photo of a ring stolen in the attack, but it's not archived online. Sketches of both suspects were also made, but the only website currently archiving those drawings is a white supremacist website, on their "Dark Crime" page. I won't post a link; just google "Shawn Mulkin".

Incredibly, these sketches are not even posted on the page that the investigating agency, the Orange County Sheriff's Office, has devoted this unsolved murder. Rather, this agency, already noted for the crackerjack job it did prosecuting Casey Anthony, has posted a driver's license photo of the victim. Since he was killed by two strangers, it makes absolutely no sense how a copy of the victim's driver's license photo is supposed to spawn tips, but since trying to call the OCSD on the matter is essentially a one-way ticket to voice menu purgatory, it seems obvious that the Sheriff's office is content to keep this case unsolved.

In fact, I can't even post a direct link to his OCSD page on his case, so I'll just paste the info here:

That's right--the page doesn't even provide a description of the two suspects.

I don't know what sickens me more--the crime itself, or the media/public/law enforcement apathy about searching for the killers.

Bumping for Shawn, as we have recently passed the 14th anniversary of his murder

So LE knows these perps were involved in a "widespread crime spree?"

Man killed by robber dies in Florida home
Photo Caption:
Former Herrin resident, Shawn Mulkin (left) shown here with his father, John Mulkin, was murdered in his Florida home on Tuesday. John Mulkin founded the Herrin Spokesman in 1957.
Snips:
"He and a friend went down and thought Florida would be a great place to live," Martha said. "He had a very happy life there. He worked for Domino's Pizza for years and, in the last two or three years, he had switched over to a newer company called Donatos. He was 'the pizza man.'"

Working as a pizza man was Shawn's true calling, his stepmother said.

"He just loved it. He made a good living at it," Martha said. "He made an effort to please people, and he loved being around them. He had a lot of repeat customers. He knew their kids' names and their dogs' names, and he would always have dog biscuits in his pocket and knew the name of the dog that was coming to the door.

"A lot of customers switched over to his place because they wanted him to bring their pizza," she continued. "And in a second, some idiot just erased him."

The men responsible for Shawn's death were involved in a widespread crime spree in central Florida, according to WFTV.com, and still haven't been caught.

Three agencies and it's not solved? It's long past time to have some DNA in CODIS.

Crime spree rolls across west Orange
Snips:
The near-death experience led off a night of terror across west Orange County, where authorities said the same pair of criminals may be responsible for four separate attacks. One victim died and another was pistol-whipped so harshly that he was all but unrecognizable to his friends.

Orange County sheriff's spokesman Cpl. Carlos Torres said catching the killers and ending their rampage is the No. 1 priority of his agency, along with police in Ocoee and Winter Garden.

"These are violent crimes affecting our community," he said.

The crime spree covered more than 20 miles from Winter Garden through Ocoee to Apopka's outskirts, and lasted from early evening until midnight. At least two of the victims lived in gated communities, which the attackers roamed at will, reports show.

By dawn, authorities suspected what first appeared to be four unrelated crimes were possibly the work of the same unknown pair of home invaders. Witnesses in the attacks gave similar descriptions of the men, and authorities released composite sketches.

Part of the problem is that the Orlando Slantinal couldn't drop their coverage of the case fast enough, refusing to publish sketches of the suspects and a photo of the ring they stole.
