GUILTY FL - Taylor Rose Williams, 5, found deceased, Jacksonville, 6 Nov 2019 *Arrest* #4

Didn't realize it was THAT many pretrial hearings...

Brianna Williams' 17th pretrial passed again | firstcoastnews.com

Dec. 15, 2021

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Brianna Williams, mother of 5-year-old Taylor Rose Williams, attended her 17th pretrial hearing on Wednesday in court, a little over two years after she reported her daughter missing.

At 9 a.m. in the Duval County courthouse, the case was passed and rescheduled for another pretrial on Jan. 12, 2022.

Judge Kevin Blazs plans set a trial date at that time as well.
[......]
She appeared in court with her defense team, who told the judge they needed more time to conduct out-of-state depositions, which had previous scheduling conflicts.

The case was passed and rescheduled for another pretrial on Jan. 12, 2022. Judge Kevin Blazs plans to set a trial date at that time as well.

Officials close to the case said they are still in the 'building stage," predicting an actual trial will not happen until fall of 2022.

After all this time, a guilty plea. I can't even quite process it. But at least it won't have to clog up the court system with endless depositions and hearings anymore. I hope the sentence will be appropriate for what was done to that poor little girl.

I am surprised. and let down. At least a trial might reveal the whys or at least what prosecutors thought were the whys. I am glad justice will be done, and hope for a good harsh sentence, but I was hoping for answers and it looks like they won't be forthcoming.

Here's an article about her guilty plea.

Mother pleads guilty to 5-year-old daughter's death in Jacksonville

edited to add - it doesn't look like 5/11/22 is "the" sentencing date. From article:

The State Attorney's Office presented that evidence to the defense team, which led to Williams and her attorneys opting against going forward with a trial and pleading guilty to the one charge. The judge scheduled a May 11 court session so he and attorneys can schedule her sentencing hearing, where Williams faces 20 years to life in prison.

The judge scheduled a May 11 court session so he and attorneys can schedule her sentencing hearing, where Williams faces 20 years to life in prison.

The evidence included two birth certificates found on the living-room floor at the Southside Boulevard apartment, plus information on a carpet with dried fecal matter and the presence of dead maggots on several items, according to Times-Union news partner First Coast News.

I wonder who the birth certificates belonged to?

She hadn’t been charged with murder before so I’m glad she plead guilty to second degree. They may have had a hard time proving murder (think Casey Anthony). Minimum sentence is twenty years.

Taylor Rose last attended daycare in April 2019 and her grandparents said she had not seen her in more than a year, according to the AP.

Six days after being reported missing, the child’s remains were found outside her Alabama hometown, according to FirstCoastNews. Her badly decomposed body appeared to have been stuffed in a garbage bag and buried in a shallow grave.

Only 10 percent of the child’s bones were scattered at the home.

The remains could be identified, but the cause of death remains undetermined because of the condition.

There were signs of malnourishment and abuse, prosecutors said and FirstCoastNews reported. Police found evidence of abuse when they searched Williams’ apartment.

"Obvious signs of neglect and abuse were observed including soiled children’s clothing, soiled carpeting, blood and along with partially empty soup and fruit cans that had a tiny hole cut in them," prosecutor Lauren Anderson said, according to FirstCoastNews.

I haven’t found it but maybe somebody else has. When did she get charged with murder?
