Nothing President Trump does will go without scrutiny. He wanted to golf with friends, on his golf course - he should be allowed to do that safely. Routh was permitted to stake that area out for nearly 12 hours prior and would have shot Trump if he had the chance. How was that stake out not noticed and permitted? It's divine intervention that he was spotted, stopped and caught. I look forward to reading more about what Routh has been up to and what he planned to do.

The problem is that he made the decision at the last minute, not giving SS time to do a full sweep to protect himself an others. He insisted on playing there anyway.

Or perhaps the presidential candidate could show responsible use of resources and not go golfing without appropriate planning.

In his first public appearance since the incident, the Republican presidential candidate told a crowd that the unnamed civilian “saw something in this guy that was bad”.

She spotted the suspect running to his car and became suspicious, so followed him in her own vehicle and took pictures of his licence plate, Trump said.

She's an incredible hero. Probably saved a life - or more. I look forward to hearing her story when she is ready to tell it.

The reason we do not have a political forum is because it is impossible.
In 2016, we decided to create a political forum because so many members wanted one. We had only one rule: no name-calling. We made it very clear that, other than our usual rules, we would not allow any name-calling in the political forum. Guess how long it took before the name-calling started: within 30 seconds of the forum's start. The political forum did not last long.

The police officers who arrested the would-be assassin on Sunday in Florida on highway I-95 met with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago and presented him with the handcuffs they used when they arrested the guy, and the officers all had signed them. Very unique souvenir! Heard this tonight on the radio, so don't have a link, but hopefully it will be reported in print media in the morning.

Some new information on one of the sources of funding for RR's Ukraine trip -

According to a page posted by Routh’s fiancée, Kathleen Shaffer, he traveled to the country in April 2022. Photos geolocated by CNN show Routh posing with pro-Ukranian signs, as well as a large number of drones, at Kyiv’s Maidan Square. The page, which has since been taken down, raised $1,865 of its $2,500 goal, which Shaffer wrote would go toward tactical gear, lodging and supplies needed for volunteers. Shaffer wrote that Routh had already “arranged for delivery of 120 drones to the front lines,” though CNN could not verify those claims.

The more I think about this, the more I think the guy was cosplaying assassin in the make-believe world in his grifting mind.

This does NOT mean I don't consider this a serious breach of security and a serious situation. It is serious.

But, I think his main motive was to capture images of himself with his gun and Trump in the background. I think the images/video would then be used to fake some street cred, a calling card to show what he can do.

It's possible he didn't know Trump would be there that day! But he still would have images of himself with a gun on Trump property.

I do not think he was part of a conspiracy. From what I gather, people figure out he is full of hot air quickly. He's not running in any elite circles (but pretends he does).

From the start, it looked like a goofball situation - backpacks hanging on a fence? That's his field tactics?

I am **NOT** downplaying the situation or finding excuses, simply stating my opinion that he seems like a delusional, full-of-himself man with a gun who was pretending to be capable of being an assassin.

Grateful and glad nobody was hurt.

That answers where some of the funding was coming from. I have wondered how many G F accounts there are out there he is connected to. JMO

I think we need to factor in who the golfer is.

For a presidential candidate, everything has inherent risk (somethings more than others). This goes double for Trump due to his style.

Though the performance of Trump's life guards was less than stellar in PA, they are still over all competent. They should be listened to. Or, at least "worked with".

Say: The Life Guards prefer no golfing. I am not giving up golfing. But... I will ask the Life Guards what course and what holes work best for them. Then give advance notice....

I fundamentally agree with you.

At the same time, those federal man power (and woman power) sources probably need advance notice to be able to provide the additional people.

There is a possibility that "The Donald" woke up in the morning. Then over breakfast, announced that he was going golfing at the SS's least favorite course- that afternoon. And... that he will be playing the full course- ohh yeah.
