Identified! FL - Zephyrhills, Human remains in woods, Jan'10 - Don Cavender

It is a short distance from Orland to Zephryhills, about 1 hour and 25- 40 minutes if you take i-4 E . It looks like there were teeth left in the skull so if dental records are available they can rule out Jennifer and Tracy quickly.

Hoping for some family to have a closure to a mystery.............
so far this week maybe Abraham Shakespeare, Morgan Harrington,
an baby Aveion Lewis have been found..............
The full moon is in LEO..........

Has any one heard anything more on this? Are there any new articles out?

Wow, this is an amazing story. Rarely, if ever, do we get to see photos of the skeleton as found.

I hope there is an update soon.

I'm planning on going back to hunt there on Sunday. I guess the check station operator probably knows what happened last Sunday as when I left around noon, LE was still in the area (they left Sat around 9:00 pm and came back early next day). If I go and find more details I'll post them here.

Ok.Thank you very much.

Mr. Lolo, I cannot thank you enough. There are a number of cold cases that would fit this location as well, and if these are human as they look, you could really and truly have made a huge impact on those who have been waiting desperately for their loved on to be found. I have worked a case here in the NE where the young woman's mother would visit the detective every November, hoping a deer hunter would stumble upon her daughter's remains and she could finally be brought home.

Peace.

Just got back from Upper Hillsborough. On my way in, I asked the check station guy and there is no new information other than what I already posted here. He didn't even know what happened Sunday (if they found more bones/a gun to suggest the person was a hunter/clothing, etc).

On my way back from my hunting spot I decided to check the area where I found the bones. To my surprise it didn't look like LE searched a lot, but can't tell if it was because there were no more bones or what.

The area is open for hunting one more weekend (next weekend) and I'll post if I hear anything.

I know just from other cases that when a body is left out in FL, the animals tend to scatter the bones around. I would hope they searched a good bit of the area, as the original dumping spot could be a quite a bit away. A through search of the area may find any number of clues.....

I am having a hard time with the idea that someone was transported 400-500 yards into that kind of brush and covered/buried. Given the wildlife about, perhaps it makes complete sense....but how would you get someone in to the woods that deep???

Bump! Has anyone heard any news about this? We need an update!

perhaps an animal transported them to that location and that's not the original location

I’m going back this weekend. I’ll ask around to see if there is new info. If I hear something I’ll post. After that, I probably have no chances of getting more information as the area closes for hunting this weekend.

So much for my "un-expert opinion" that the victim was female.:eek::eek:

I'd better stay away from the roulette table if I can't hit a 50-50 guess.

Wonder if it might have been a hunter or fisherman who had a heart attack or accident or something...

Three hours and 134 miles difference from where he went missing ot where the bones were found, but the noses are so similar: http://www.theyaremissed.org/ncma/gallery/ncmaprofile_all.php?A200705299S

This guy may have purchased a shot gun before he went missing:

Man found in Zephyr Hills

Man found in Port Richey

The first man's body was found near a homeless camp by the USA Flea Market on U.S. 19 in Port Richey, just south of State Road 52. On Nov. 20, the decomposing body was found at 2:51 p.m.
...
It is thought the man was white, at least 50 years old. He had only one tooth and had previous fractures to his nose, Doll said. He likely died one or two weeks before his body was discovered.
...

The skeletal remains of the other man were found at 4:20 p.m. on Jan. 23 by a hunter in the woods near County Road 54 and Chancy Road in Zephyrhills.

The cause of death in that case is not known. It is possible the body had been there for up to 20 years, Doll said. That man is believed to have been white and at least 35 years old.

The second man is the subject of this thread.

They both have Namus links with reconstructions.

This is the Zephyrhills man.

https://identifyus.org/cases/6598
This is the Port Richey man.

I think Namus may have the data of the two cases mixed up because the Port Richey man is the one with the nose fracture according to the article and the composite photo but it is listed in the medical oddities list of the Zephyrhills man and the Port Richey man has a tab in no distinctive body features.

Just got an email that it was an error and the Namus profiles have been updated.
