I agree! Honestly I don't know how any President can take a vacation and truly relax. It's no wonder they age 10 years for every four they serve.*

Q: Is it true that George W. Bush took more vacation days than Barack Obama?
A: Yes. Before his two-week trip to Martha’s Vineyard in August, Obama’s count was 125 full or partial days and Bush’s total at the same point in his presidency was 407.

President Clinton took 174 vacation days, while Ronald Reagan took 390.

The least number of vacation days taken by any president was Jimmy Carter, who spent just 79 days away from the White House during his four-years in office.

*Random equation I just made up.

I totally agree with taking a time out , but there should be mbe,IMO, some evaluative component when thsi is a good time. If I was working with a heavy schudule of highly suicidal foks, borderline persontality disordered, a individual suffering schzophrenic in the middle of a med change ...you know what I am saying.................

Momoffourboys,
It's disheartening.

“Deakin University terrorism expert Professor Greg Barton agreed, saying Islamic State appeared to be deliberately ramping up their global strategy to move beyond lone-wolf attacks and include mass casualty attacks in the style of al-Qaeda.It may ultimately prove to be a tactical mistake. But, if an international agreement is reached to end the civil war in Syria that results in a united ground operation against them, IS may in fact be relying on the weakness of their enemies.Islamic State might well have miscalculated and provoked a response beyond their capacity to resist … but their calculation appears to be that an international coalition will ultimately fatigue and fail, just as occurred in Afghanistan and Iraq,” he said."

So much for so-called checks.

Rob Wainwright, the head of Europol in The Guardian:
http://www.theguardian.com/world/20...-to-paris-attack-raises-eu-security-questions

Revealing figures vastly exceeding those previously disclosed, Rob Wainwright, the head of Europol, told the European parliament’s civil liberties committee that the agency’s database contained the names of 28,000 people in the EU who needed to be monitored for possible connections to terrorism.

The figures included the confirmed names of 2,000 foreign fighters who had been to Syria from EU countries. Wainwright reckoned the real figure was 5,000. A further 8,000 names referred to supporters and sympathisers.

The Paris attacks represented a quantum leap in the jihadi threat to Europe, Wainwright said: “I regard this as the most serious terrorist threat facing Europe for 10 years. Europe has experienced a Mumbai-style terrorist attack, with indiscriminate shootings and bombings over a wide area. Further attacks are likely.”

What ISIS Wants From Women

Snip

"ISIS has increased its female-focused efforts, writing manifestos directly for women, directing sections of its online magazine publications Dabiq to the 'sisters of the Islamic State' and allowing women to have a voice within their recruitment strategy -- albeit via social media," the report said.

ISIS sees women as crucial in growing the population of jihadi loyalists, the report said, so that the Islamic State survives and expands beyond this generation.

In many cases, women are also seen as "safe" recruits, especially if they're related to a male fighter, Bloom said.

Mont--have a deep, and deserved, hatred for the west.

so agree, and until the west gets it , this shall o on . I was bullied in school, I would never go try to piss them off more - makes no sense in terms of outcome.............. common sense would indicate it would get worse...............

Please refer to my post #465 for background.

DH and I have just returned from Costco in Bloomfield Township (MI). We took an alternate route so we could drive past the location of the proposed refugee village in Pontiac. The neighborhood where Syrian refugees were to be housed is approximately five miles from our home. The Detroit Skating Club (where Tara Lipinski, Todd Eldridge, among other notable figure skaters trained) is less than half a mile from the site. There are several streets in the area lined with houses. The proposed refugee village would include manufactured homes on vacant lots in the neighborhood. I appreciate that folks who live in the area were concerned about having Syrian refugees move into their community. :moo:

ISIS: The black octopus

Snip

The Islamic State's original plan was to commit a series of terror attacks at the same time in several European capitals. It was no coincidence that British Prime Minister David Cameron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel convened their war councils right after the attacks in Paris. And this isn't routine operations. Europe's intelligence agencies have yet to expose the ISIS network on the continent, which is why no country is willing to take any chances. Flights, concerts and sports matches have been canceled in quick succession, and it's only the beginning.

It is yet unclear why the plan for the bigger attack wasn't executed, and it's likely that if indeed such a wide network of ISIS operative exists in several European capitals, something went wrong somewhere along the way. There is a real concern that the terrorists and the weapons they were going to use are still out there and that they might act at any given moment, but that at present someone is stopping them from doing so.

At the beginning of the week, a very important event happened on the Israel-Syria-Jordan border that did not receive much media attention. The Islamic State, that controls the closest area to the Israel border in the Syrian Golan Heights, suffered a severe blow and lost its entire top command in the area in one fell swoop. The story is that a suicide bomber from a rival group infiltrated a meeting at the headquarters of the Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade, an organization that swore allegiance to ISIS, and blew himself up, taking everyone in the room down with him. The Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade, which numbers some 700 militants, was a thorn not only in Israel's side, but also for Jordan, the Druze in the area and Syrian opposition groups. Someone among these players decided to get rid of them.

Holocaust Museum Condemns Treatment Of Syrian Refugees In U.S.
"While recognizing that security concerns must be fully addressed, we should not turn our backs on the thousands of legitimate refugees

Snip

The museaum's statement:
Acutely aware of the consequences to Jews who were unable to flee Nazism, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum looks with concern upon the current refugee crisis. While recognizing that security concerns must be fully addressed, we should not turn our backs on the thousands of legitimate refugees.
The Museum calls on public figures and citizens to avoid condemning today’s refugees as a group. It is important to remember that many are fleeing because they have been targeted by the Assad regime and ISIS for persecution and in some cases elimination on the basis of their identity.

[...]

The country's largest Orthodox Jewish lobbying group also urged Americans to remember the past.

"We cannot and should not blame [refugees] for the actions of an evil terrorist organization," the Orthodox Union Advocacy Center said in a statement. "The Jewish community has an important perspective on this debate. Just a few decades ago, refugees from the terror and violence in Hitler’s Europe sought refuge in the United States and were turned away due to suspicions about their nationality."

Georgette Bennett, the president of the Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding and the daughter of Holocaust survivors, said that U.S. politicians' opposition to receiving Syrian refugees reminded her of "the refusal to allow the passengers of the St. Louis to disembark in an American port, sending them back to Europe -- many to their deaths."

ISLAMIC State has been so heavily hit by Russian airstrikes it is dumping bodies of dead jihadis in Syrian sewage pits filled with human excrement rather than giving them a Muslim burial.
