Gainesville police are at the scene of human remains found near a wooded area on Jesse Jewel Parkway near Dorsey Street.

Police say the remains belonged to an adult male. Police are unsure how long the body has been there since it is heavily decomposed.

Gainesville Police are investigating after remains were found in a vacant lot in the city.

“Investigators were here following up on an investigation,” Holbrook said, when the officers discovered the remains around 2 p.m. Friday.

The body had been decomposed and will be sent for an autopsy.

The death of a man who went missing nearly three years ago has been solved, authorities confirm.

According to the Gainesville Police Department, officers arrested 34-year-old Michael Anthony Dean in New Jersey Jan. 27 before being brought back to Georgia.

Gainesville Police said Dean was wanted for the murder of Ricky Lee Sealey.
