Who was Marsha Edwards? The well-known woman suspected of killing her two children before taking her life

I'm having trouble believing that the mom did this.
With 2 adult children, she raised to be successful adults who were out in their own, why?
I have a hinky feeling this scene was staged to "look like" a murder suicide.
As we have all learned, even if that is what it appears to be, investigators will dig deep to make sure.

Very odd for a mother to kill her adult children.
Very odd for a woman to commit suicide with a gun.
Obviously there are always those who do defy what studies show.
It appears she has been divorced since 2014.
Both husband and wife earning hefty salaries.
RIP to her and her children. Prayers for all those that knew and loved her.

Cobb County police responded to a family home in a wealthy gated townhouse community called Vinings Parc East, 12 miles east of Atlanta, at around 6 pm on Wednesday, August 21, to conduct a welfare check, according to the Daily Mail.

On arrival, they found the bodies of Marsha Edwards, 58, along with her daughter Erin Edwards, 20, and Chris Edwards, 24, all suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said Marsha was the only one who died of "an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound," and are reportedly investigating the case as a double murder-suicide.

The motive behind the tragic killings remains unclear, and Marsha's social media posts in the days leading up to her and her children's death seemed to indicate that the family was doing good.

The mother and two children recently attended the National Association of Black Journalists annual conference in Miami. On Twitter, NABJ President Dorothy M. Tucker issued a statement: "The #NABJ family has lost three of our own. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of Marsha Edwards, Christopher Edwards II and Erin Edwards. This tragedy has claimed the lives of three members, but touches countless more."

I agree. This makes zero sense. Two successful parents and two successful grown children.

I understood/assumed that the kids lived on their own and she requested they come home. That’s just what I have gleaned thru articles I’ve read but could be wrong.

I wonder what was going on in that family?

ETA: I didn’t know the son was married. Even more devastation to more innocents left behind.

According to the son's FB he's married. So, why was he living with his mother and sister? JMO MOO and all that.

That's a good question. He could have been staying with his mom recently at her request, or it could be because of his relationship status (perhaps recently changed) or maybe that tidbit of information is simply incorrect. IDK, hopefully they'll shed some light on this tragic situation. JMO

Where exactly was it said that he even did live there?

The social media of Marsha Edwards is bursting with smiling photos of her and her two children – daughter Erin, a Boston University scholar – and son Chris, a worker in the office of Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. There appear to be no obvious signs of impending violence or suicide.

Two weeks ago, Thursday August 8, Marsha Edwards posted pictures of herself with her son Chris at an event in Miami they’d attended together.

Three days later, August 11. Marsha Edwards posted photos of herself with her daughter Erin. It was the start of what appears to have been an eight-day visit to Italy – pictures in Venice, Pisa and concluding Monday August 19 with the Vatican in Rome.

The following day, Tuesday August 20, they were in Atlanta. Erin Edwards had dinner with her father Dr. Christopher Edwards, who’d been married to Erin’s mother. Erin was due to go to Boston the next day to return to college.

Wednesday August 21, Chris Edwards failed to show up for work at his job at Atlanta city hall. His supervisor called her dad.

That same day, Dr. Edwards tried repeatedly to reach his son, daughter and ex-wife. When he couldn’t he asked a relative to call Cobb County police. Dr. Edwards met police at his ex-wife condo, at what they learned was a crime scene.

Within that timeline, the violence, the suicide, seemed inexplicable.

"In a lot of cases it’s not obvious. Because people don’t want you to know," said Travis Fretwell, who specializes in suicide prevention at the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.

I've searched through all the links above and watched the videos and there's nothing specific either way about where EE and CE were living. However, the articles and video refer to the home as "the Edwards" and "their" home. So, I don't think we're really clear on whether her children were living there or not. JMO

I did notice ME was wearing a ring on her left hand in one of the videos from a recent trip to Italy with her daughter; not sure if it's her wedding ring or another ring, but I haven't been able to find out when the Edwards' divorced so it could shed some light on her mental health. IMO

I get a feeling of final goodbyes while reading about the trips she took with each of her kids recently. I wonder if she was saying goodbye to them without their knowledge of what was yet to unfold in the near future. Also, her comments on her FB about being so proud of her kids and their accomplishments left me with a sense of this wasn't about them, they were perfect. More like it was about her.

Again, JMO and thoughts at the moment.
