Police in LaVergne hope a forensic artist at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville will be able to identify human remains found over three months ago.
A police officer found the remains, hidden under some brush just off Hollendale Road, while working on another investigation on November 14.
Investigators moved quickly, spending hours, some in pouring rain, scouring the crime scene for evidence.
The remains belong to a black female, said to be between the ages of 25 and 49. Investigators said she was brutally murdered.
