Someone above or a few pages back mentioned he originally lied about the afternoon car visit --- where was that mentioned? I hadn't heard that but that makes me lean to one side of the fence more if that's true.

HLN has officially gone nutz over this case. They showed a 'countdown clock to hearing' for a few minutes on NG.

Typical HLN.

I'm surprised NG hasn't officially dubbed Justin Harris "Tot Dad" yet. I'm sure she will if this case progresses.

I still would like to know if there's a motive. Maybe we will hear something about motive at tomorrows probable cause hearing. A defense attorney did say this about what the state may release.

The toddler’s father was arrested on murder charges for initially what appeared to be a tragic accident, which inflamed passionate backlash against police and prosecutors.

So maybe, Frye said, prosecutors may release more details about why Cooper’s death is indeed murder.

I think jail would be a worse fate.

How so? Jail (prison) hasn't been a hardship for Susan Smith. Heck she has even had a couple of "boyfriends" that she was having sex with that were fired because of it (prison guards). No one beat her up for her crime, she had access to a computer and was able to chat with folks on the web. So how exactly is jail a worse punishment than being strapped into a blazing hot car for at least 6 hours with nothing to eat or drink?

Justin Harris, a Home Depot IT specialist, told police his SUV with his son inside was parked unattended all day. An arrest warrant made available Wednesday stated he opened the driver side door of his Hyundai Tuscon, placed something in the vehicle, and then went back to work.

I have a question for those of you who think this was an accident:

Why did RH lie to LE about the lunchtime trip that he made to his car? (I suppose it's possible that he forgot -again!- that he went to his car, but would anyone believe that?)

If this truly is a tragic accident, is there any acceptable reason for him to lie to LE about his movements during the day?

I'm not trying to be snarky - I'd genuinely like to know your opinions.

I don't know if it was an accident or not but I also don't know that he lied. So far warrants reflect him telling them he went to Chicfila and forgot the child was in the car. The warrant also suggests he told police about the Internet search. There have been reports about him telling witnesses he heard Cooper choking however there are no statements from police that he said that to them. The warrant said that Ross had administered CPR despite the child clearly being deceased. There is also statements made that he left his car "unattended" despite him walking down to the car at some point. That I guess depends on what your definition of unattended is. Most times you leave a car in a parking you are leaving your car unattended. I don't know that he lied about that. Only lie I can see at this point is if he killed his child purposely he lied about that as a whole. These other issues haven't been proven to be lies.

Maybe I'm forgetting something ....

I just can't believe no one noticed the baby in the car. Someone posted a photo earlier of the HD parking lot (where Harris works), and it was packed. His windows are not that dark. Previous photo posted of his vehicle, I could clearly see in.

Unless he parked far away from any other cars I suppose?

I wonder if we will find out where he parked during tomorrow's hearing

I wondered about a possible panicked coverup as well.

Until I heard about his incredibly damning " how long will it take a child to die in a hot car and a what temperature" internet research.

I'm sure Casey Anthony's "Foolproof Suffocation" search was coincidental and innocent as well.

Sociopaths do remarkably well in prison usually. Jodi Arias is doing just fine behind bars and many others do as well. Remember Casey Anthony making that remark about how she felt "safe" in jail or something? These types of people are really adaptable.

Is SS's experience typical?

It doesn't matter anyway because I don't believe in the DP.

That article says that the hearing is in front of a magistrate and that bail will be addressed. We learned the other day that a bail hearing for a capital case is only held in front of a Superior Court judge. So I would expect no bail for tomorrow unless they are wrong about the magistrate part.

BBM. I was wondering if bail would be addressed during this hearing. I didn't think so either, but then I read the quote below, so I'm not sure at this point.

The issue of bail is also expected to be addressed at this hearing (Harris is currently behind bars without bail).

At Chick-Fil-A you order at the counter, however if you are dining in they will usually bring the food to your table.

The one near me has some sort of service where if you have kids you can order at the drive-thru, then park the car and herd the kids inside and they'll have food brought to your table. That way you don't have to manage the kids while waiting in line to order. They just started this in the last couple of months.

She will feel differently when she is transferred to prison. A whole different story.

Actually Susan Smith's experience is rather typical. There is always talk of how when a mother that kills her child/ren goes to prison that they will suffer at the hands of other women. That may have been true many, many years ago. However, with our prisons filling up with mothers that have killed their child/ren it is no longer the case. There is also protective custody that a parent that has killed their child/ren will be placed in. Very difficult for any of the other inmates (male or female) to get to the killer in that case.

If you don't mind answering, why do you not believe in the DP? Shouldn't the punishment fit the crime?

MOO

Yes and no. I think she will be more isolated for sure, which she won't like. But I really think she'll adapt just fine for the most part. She'll figure out who she can manipulate in her new cell block and make a new friend or two.

Someone mentioned cameras at Chick Fil A earlier... We had CFA for dinner tonight, and as I ordered, I noticed all the cameras above each register. Then, when I went to get a refill, I glanced at the drive through window. There was a monitor showing cars ordering in the drive thru, I could see their face clear as day. I could also see the kids in the backseat. There was also another camera at the drive thru window where you got your food.

I bet the CFA Harris went to is set up similar. They for sure have him & Cooper on video from that morning.
