Atlanta police are investigating a shooting death at the Gramercy at Buckhead Apartments on Roswell Road.

The woman was found in her 4th floor apartment. She had been shot two or three times, Major Keith Meadows said.

The woman's boyfriend told police they had eaten breakfast together at the apartment.

The boyfriend told police he left the apartment and returned later to find the woman shot dead, Meadows said.

Police are treating the incident as a homicide and believe the woman was targeted, Meadows said.

Wow, 5 times! I noticed the article also said she was shot twice in the head. That seems very personal to me. I'm thinking she knew her killer and this wasn't random.

A family member, who didn't want to be identified, called Kingsberry "a beautiful woman, with a beautiful spirit and a beautiful heart." She had two young sons, the family member said.

Authorities said they wanted to make one thing clear, however:
"It was not a random act," said Carlos Campos, Atlanta police spokesman.
Kingsberry, 33, was visiting from Raleigh, N.C., where she worked at a homeless shelter.
She was a weekend staffer at the Helen Wright Center for Women, a transitional shelter for 230 women each year.
She also was a single mother, with children ages 15 and 4, according to Anne Burke, executive director of Urban Ministries, which runs the shelter."

Atlanta police have person of interest in Raleigh woman's death

Police want to talk to Steven Smith. They say he is known to have been in the apartment the day of the shooting and has resisted requests for a statement.

I wonder if the friend that Ms. Kingsberry was staying with knows Steven Smith.

Why would there be large amount of cash laying on the table in the apartment? And how would this other man have known about it? Drugs maybe? Doesn't sound like she was the type but that doesn't mean her friend wasn't.

I've searched for almost an hour and can't find where this PO, Steven Smith was ever arrested.

It looks like, for now, her murder remains unsolved.
