A 58-year-old Connecticut woman who robbed two banks while visiting her police officer son, has been given nearly six years in jail.

Margaret Ann Thomas-Irving also admitted 10 other robberies in Connecticut and Massachusetts when she appeared in court.

Her crime spree lasted nine months and took in banks, restaurants and doughnut shops, and netted her just over £11,400.

She was arrested on the day she allegedly robbed two banks in Lansing, Michigan.
