Fears grow for missing Brit mum, 34, who disappeared on holiday in South America Fears are growing for a missing British mother who disappeared while on holiday in South America. Mum-of-one Rachel Smith, 34, was due to return six weeks ago after a week-long trip to Guyana. She last made contact with her teen daughter on April 27 and friends and family now fear something terrible has happened. Loved ones have launched a desperate appeal to find Rachel and police have joined in the search. Lifelong friend Tammy Taylor said: "I just fear the worst has happened. It's not like her not to contact anyone. "It's been six weeks since we have heard from her. It feels like something awful has happened." "She added that neither she nor Kamielaa knew the friends Rachel had been staying with, and had been unable to reach anyone who knew her in New Amsterdam."
