Amanda was found by our own search team captains Chris snd Javier!! They were in a helicopter searching out of the general area where we have been in. She spotted them and they spotted her at the same time. She waved them down. She was deep in a creek bed between two waterfalls. She is just as strong as we always said she would be. We knew she could make it this long. Amanda is doing great she is just talked to her father from air evacuation helicopter. More soon!!

My goodness! She was in a deep creek bed. I wonder if she flat out got lost or was injured and couldn’t get herself out. The details will come out soon! I am just amazed at her strength!

Stunning and joyful! I can only imagine how happy those searchers are—and her family!

(I opened up this thread, saw the ‘found alive’ message, and couldn’t believe it. Scrolled up to the top to see what thread I was on!)

Sarah Haynes: "She was found deep in a ravine, injured. . ."
UPDATE: Family confirms Maui woman missing for over 2 weeks found alive
    UPDATE 5/24 4:30 P.M.
The family of Amanda Eller confirms that she has been found alive after going missing for over two weeks.

"The family and I and everybody involved is so incredibly appreciative to all the people who volunteered to help find her. We were told days, weeks ago it's time to quit. We refused to quit. She was found deep in a ravine, injured everything we always suspected," Sarah Haynes, a friend of Amanda Eller who has been leading the search for her, said.

Yeah. I'm a paranoid type! Also I've noticed people in Hawaii in general seem to be much more relaxed and less paranoid than in other areas.

A very good and frightening question.

I think the key to survival here was—an adequate supply of water, and weather conditions that weren’t conducive to hypothermia.

Adequate supply of water—supplied by nature, that is!

    • A human can go without food for about three weeks but would typically only last three to four days without water.

    it makes me sad
I often think in these cases there's no way someone could survive that long and yet here is Amanda proving me wrong
