The only thing that makes sense is that she was taken after briefly starting the hike. If her scent was traced there and she has not been found. I do wonder like others have asked, if there was any cameras anywhere. Even on the way into the park? Any other cameras, even a highway camera etc, they can check for time stamps? And also for other people who may have grabbed her.

Was it the same blue truck or a different one?

Either that or she was taken in the parking lot before she started her hike.

Not necessarily. IMO, it could mean that was her trail and something prevented her from continuing on. IMO, however the environment plays such a HUGE role in how scent travels or remains. Wind, humidity, trees, large rock formations, ground conditions, the list truly goes on. It would be ideal to search for someone in a building :)

If her scent truly was tracked outside of her car, regardless of where it stopped, that’s a big deal. It’s a solid piece of info for the team looking for her.

It looks like they now calling for wilderness search dogs. Very wise move. You need dogs that can handle heights, terrain changes, the weather and have the endurance.

This lack of action bothers me more than I can convey. I would no more "wait til morning" if SO went incommunicado than the man in the moon. Esp if I lived on an island chain that was 9th in the nation for missing people per capita. Esp if my SO was a beautiful woman. I know I know, that's "just me." But still. But STILL.

If she was indeed setup, and either taken from the forest, or sometime prior to getting there and her car and items were left there to distract searchers they did exactly what they wanted to do. In fact, it would be a incredibly thought out process to keep searchers in one area for far long enough time. This whole case is heartbreaking

Right, but I just mentioned her maybe being taken when starting the hike because of the dog’s finding her scent on the beginning of the trail.

Yes everyone on Maui is talking about it. It’s a mystery to everyone. Accident is what most people think. Moo

Depending on where and for how long the first dog followed a scent, which we do not know (do we?), then it could also be that she hiked out, turned around and was headed back, retracing her own scent. If something happened, fall, attack, it was while she was coming back. People are most tired on way back (I am), and if uphill/downhill trail, descending is typically more likely to produce a slip and fall. JMO

I think people were wondering if her BF called any of her friends Wed night to see where she might be.

Then I realized that I wouldn't have any phone numbers of friends of my daughter because the numbers are all in her cell phone. At least on Wed evening, he didn't have access to her cell phone to call anyone who wasn't in his cell phone contact list also.

I don't know if many people hand write down phone numbers and keep them where someone else could find them. This isn't an excuse for him not calling around looking for her but it's something to think about.
