The issue I have is they claim to have voluminous evidence against the perp that they apparently gathered for 3 years. Yes, I agree perhaps he was their POI all along but looking back, the Bobos have spent countless days looking for a live Holly. Private searches, gliders, truck campaigns, highest reward in any missing person case that I've followed and much more without one iota of communication to the Bobos. They were basically left in the dark for 3 long years.
IIRC even when the searches were being conducted LE said they want to bring Holly home safely. What? If they had all this evidence how can they give the family such unrealistic expectations?
Unfortunately things like this happen to many families as well. They also will do live searches for the loved one hoping to find them alive.
It does seem cruel, I certainly will admit that, but the police cant reveal what they have uncovered in their investigation that may be leading them to believe that the victim has indeed been murdered. I have never seen them do it.
Even in Sierra Lamar's case they quickly had zeroed in on the POI turned suspect, but they didn't breathe a word to anyone about Torres until he was arrested and charged with Sierra's death. Before the arrest the police kept saying they hoped that Sierra would be found alive. They didn't even say a word when they knew that Marlene and Rick(her boyfriend) were being found guilty 24/7 before the arrest of Torres by the internet masses.
What they know behind the scene is totally different than what they say publicly. But until they know beyond all doubt (based on irrefutable evidence) their hope always remains that the victim will be found alive.
