The woman’s remains were found in the river.

Police said Friday that the woman has not yet been identified, and they are asking any witnesses to come forward. She appears to be of Middle Eastern descent.
If you saw anything suspicious in the area on Wednesday or Thursday, contact police. It doesn’t appear that the body was in the area before Wednesday.

Against the backdrop of luxury homes in the quaint community of Kleinburg, York Regional Police homicide detectives are investigating the discovery of a woman’s body near the underpass of a bridge beside the West Humber River.

Investigators are waiting for information from the coroner to determine the cause of death, Nicolle said.

A passerby found the woman’s body, she said, adding police are investigating if the body was dumped there or if a crime took place at the scene.
The woman doesn’t appear to have had identification on her, Nicolle said.
Police are looking for witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious in the 24 hours or so before discovery of the body to contact the homicide unit.
“Investigators have indicated to me that they are looking specifically for that sort of 24-hour window,” Nicolle said.
“The call was made by someone who resides in the area who observed something suspicious and called and there is a belief that the body was not there the day before, so we’re looking in between the time frame of Nov. 30 to Dec. 1.”
Investigators are looking into how long the woman has been dead, said Nicolle, who did not know the victim’s age.
