JUST IN: Apartment complex in west Orange County evacuated after a 30ft x 60ft sinkhole opens nearby, per @HolfeldNews6. #Irma
All I can find is old reports about the water levels rising, or the same old hurricane videos. Jim Cantore is there. That's all I saw.
My brother and I were discussing the effect this hurricane would have on the sinkholes.
I guess that answers that...
Wondering about Key West, (heard Snappers on Key Largo is no more), and how are homes fairing near the beach, in Naples, (a couple blocks from gulf), any word on Naple's Pier, and how are Tampa Hospitals holding up. Thanks for any input. I appreciate it. Stay safe Fla. Keeping ya'll close in thought.
Awwww! Adorable! It says "Beaumont, Texas" on the video, though, so that would've been hurricane Harvey, not Irma.
EDIT: I was commenting on the Dog Rescue video... I don't know how the tree one ended up attached here?
You're right - "Snappers" is completely demolished.
There was a report yesterday that the Dolphin Tiki Bar on Marco Island had collapsed.
I'd think part of it is because so many in FL are w/o power and a lot of the damage is unknown (and still happening) at this point. My sister and family lost their power around 6pm in Deltona (Volusia Co). With the winds I'm sure they're staying inside and hopefully sleeping. Other than on here I'm getting very little info about what's going on down there (again no tv). Just started getting the first outer bands here in WNC - gentle but lived in FL so long that it's easy to recognize the smell, sound and feel... Dreading what daylight will show and hoping the damage isn't as bad as I'm afraid it will be... Stay safe everyone.
The wind remains an on and off dull roar i
did not take my lunesta afraid to
wind gusts still wild
there is something bad as fire as fire goes in Daytonia details sketchy at this time
Were in for Charlie damage bad
And possibly wider spread. That seriously sucks.
Fire in Daytona??
Hang in there love and give that pup lots of hugs. ((hugs))
Edited to add just found this on the Daytona News Journal (apparently doing rescue operation too) "
A home has burned down on Daytona Beach’s beachside Monday morning as fire crews were helpless to stop the damage because power could not be shut down. The home was destroyed and a car burned before 4:30 a.m.
There are hours of gusts still to come if you look at how big the 3 in the afternoon to 9 in the evening is although dry there is a lot of circular motion that still has to come up from below Orlando
in a way its like a small earthquake rumbling sound that starts first lasts for about 5 seconds then you hear the wind swish and feel like vibration .
Duration on the wind swoosh varies but when they go on for a long peroid of time they build up - like a crescendo
Cruise ships race to Caribbean to help Irma victims
Miami Beach will not allow people in until Tuesday
Hurricane Irma strands manatees on beach -- until Floridians come to the rescue
new videos emerging -- its bad , very Charlie like -- tons of foilage all over the place
after Charlie they had to set up special giant wood chipper centers --over all the whole mess chipper stuff took half a year to get through it all
and that was horrid for the power truck parades cause the streets had to get the stuff off the actual road first .
there were piles of trees that was like 4-5 feet high on the sides of roads all over neighborhood block after block after block
Live wires fall on patrol car, trapping PCSO deputy, paramedic for 2 hours
