I've been thinking about how Mollie was somehow prevented from using her phone in broad daylight to call for help, and came across this July 10, 2018 news report from Nebraska:

Man accused of holding knife to woman’s neck to get her cellphone

...The crime took place at about 6:25 p.m. on West Stolley Park Road.

Man accused of holding knife to woman’s neck to get her cellphone

Could CR have used a knife in this manner to get Mollie in the car and disable her from seeking help (take her phone)?

I've seen many posts characterizing CR as being this or being that; there have been quite a few press interviews from girls / women who have been allegedly accosted by CR over the last 4 years.
LE asked for information on the case; I wonder if any of them put his name forward to LE before he was arrested?

LE claimed he was not on their radar

I don’t think any of them thought he was more than just a creepy guy who pestered them

That's the thing, he's probably stalked before - car and foot; something was very different this time.

    Exactly

    He’s stalked before, IMO

LE knows this is highly unusual for a person to escalate to this with no prior run ins.

Authorities have not revealed when, exactly, Tibbetts was killed.

Mortvedt tells PEOPLE that he can’t discuss whether or not she was held for any period of time after being taken.

All of a sudden he just does it,” says Mitch Mortvedt, assistant director of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, referring to suspect Cristhian Rivera.

“Who escalates to abduction, kidnapping and homicide that fast?”

Been thinking about this, he over killed by stabbing, which is up close and personal

This was not an accidental killing as in he accidentally hit her with his car and freaked out

This was not a kidnapping gone bad as in he had no way out of it but to kill and dispose

This was pure calculated revenge or passion, if you will, on his part

His twisted mind felt he was entitled to this act

If CR could see an earbud, blood on Mollies head, and see well enough to navigate a cornfield, there had to be enough daylight left to do so. IMO she wasn't placed in the cornfield the evening she went missing.

Brats are sausages. Similar to large hot dogs. And yes I did taste Vegemite while visiting “Down Under.” Sorry, not a fan. My mom neither. Did love your country though!

I keep going back to this statement....I think she was held for a period of time.

Rahn said Rivera allegedly admitted seeing Tibbetts previously, but he did not elaborate. Authorities have not revealed when, exactly, Tibbetts was killed.

Mortvedt tells PEOPLE that he can’t discuss whether or not she was held for any period of time after being taken.

He says he isn’t sure if Rivera may have spotted Tibbetts previously while she was out running or while they were “out and about” in the small community.

It may be possible that someone could have been with CR during the assault. If not then maybe someone else is at least complicit. I feel this way because CR gives partial information regarding details. The parts he leaves out are where someone else may be involved.

I disagree. The parts he leaves out are the embarrassing ones, the incriminating ones, the evil ones. He is saving face, unwilling to admit to the hideous details of a likely rape and murder.
Had he done this with an accomplice, we would have almost certainly learned that by now. He would have thrown this person under the bus early on. This is the type of crime committed by a lone individual, one with sexual gratification on his mind. No matter the cost.

“Who escalates to abduction, kidnapping and homicide that fast?”

Abduction: take someone away illegally by force or deception

Kidnap: take someone away illegally by force, typically to obtain a ransom.

    Mortvedt used both words

He took her by force, moved her to an isolated location, and then likely raped and murdered her there. He had to move her in order to commit the crime in secrecy. So the abduction/kidnapping meet those definitions.
I don’t think there was an intermediate location, one in between the vehicle and the field. The type of scenario, as we know it, fits with known behavior in many other types of similar sexually motivated murders.
This almost certainly didn’t come out of nowhere. There would likely be other crimes leading up to what he did on that fateful day.

If she passed away at 8:28 and was already at the cornfield, it would still be light enough to see, I think. But you do make a good point. If he was there much later, unless he left his headlights on (which I doubt), he would have had a lot more trouble.

I think he is just expressing his amazement that it happened so fast, not implying she was held somewhere (except maybe the trunk)

I know, that quote has really weighed on me, as well. I wish I knew more about arrest affidavits, because the cornfield not being listed on the homicide arrest warrant really bothers me. I'm curious if maybe the fatal injuries were inflicted at the 1900 block of 385th Ave., but she didn't actually die from those injuries until she was in the trunk or the cornfield. That would explain the 'kidnapping' comment, since she was still alive when she was put in the trunk. But then it also explains the location of the murder as 385th. I just don't know.

Question: If somebody stabs someone on a street, but that person is taken to the hospital where they eventually die from that injury, wouldn't the arrest affidavit list the street as location, not the hospital, where death actually occurred?

Yes, I think there are other crimes

I’m sure LE, now that they have his prints and dna, have run a search

Near by towns and cities where his relatives live are prime areas for him, I don’t think he ventured far from home base

Someone else said no because they thought Mollie would have fought him, but I don't see why that couldn't be possible and it would definitely explain how she was bleeding if he cut her a little and she was still alive when he transported her.

And IF CR had planned this, I'd imagine a dairy farm would have boundless supply of plastic tarp, wrap from hay bales, large buckets, etc. IF he planned it, those kinds of things placed in the trunk would have prevented a lot of the blood mess. Then he just had to burn, hose off, or discreetly throw out the plastic used.
