IF, big if there, that is true then I think BK did alone. His question about anyone else being arrested was mind games. If I remember correctly BTK also fancied himself smarter than everyone else. That could be one more reason people are comparing them. JMO

They “always do” (or so it seems to be the case with such killers). It should have a name, like the MENSAN SYNDROME. There is no perfect crime. Only imperfect crime investigations. These hardworking LE agents and officers worked tirelessly behind the scenes. They worked the crime scene diligently and effectively. They have made an arrest. I’ll let them continue to take the lead as they inform the public responsibly and professionally. They’ve done some great work here, now they need to get the ball into the end zone. JMOO

20 days? He was arrested on Dec 30. So he was free all of December. 30 days. And the murders were on 13 Nov. Another 17 days, by my reckoning.

37 days total, not 20. Which is why I think there's plenty of time for minor cuts and scratches to heal. I'm still on the edge of my seat to learn just how they got a profile complete enough to do GEDMatch. BK made many critical errors. Many. If he did wash his hands at the scene, he's almost like an idiot savant.

With abundant respect for your nonpareil knowledge and experience, that term is considered outmoded (like the R word) and should properly be termed Savant Syndrome.

Also in some ways similar to how "moron," "cretin" and "imbecile" were actual categories on an I.Q. test, but are now obsolete clinically due to the derogatory connotation.

@Simply Southern I'm not saying BCK could not be prosecuted for a fed. crime, but I've missed any MSM coverage re that possibility.

Iirc arrest warrant was for four homicides and another crime under ID STATE law. And Latah County, ID. prosecutor has appeared at pressers, discussing prosecution of BCK. Just FWIW.

There’s a chance that he could be charged with a Hate crime, gender based. Unfortunately we do not utilize an underlying misogyny as motive enough in the US. IMO

I spent a lot of time compiling a timeline. It's somewhere in the last few #43 or #44 (i think). While compiling that timeline I thought a lot about this and reread every available piece of reporting about that time. All of his classmates said "after the murder". I think people are reading that and assuming it was the Monday after and BK came back in good spirits. But I think it just mean the next time the class met as a group.

And the picture I get painted reading the articles are that his class came back and excitedly talked about the case and the details of it...and BK was quiet. So I'm going to assume it was after Thanksgiving break when there was a lot of information out and about regarding the case.

Also, I personally think that BK was on a flight to PA on Sunday just as police were discovering the bodies.

Schooling, I am glad that you also confirm that there are no reports that BK's students saw him at least for 2 weeks after the murders, so they coukd not witness any scratches, bruises on his face, hands and arms. Thank you!

Not sure if BK was in PA during that 2 weeks. If he did his parents would have mentioned this visit to his lawyer. I do not know. He may stayed in WA.

I think that some would go for ‘the fame.’

IMO any lawyer representing the defendant must be licensed to practice law in Idaho or waive in under I.B.C.R 227 with local counsel that is licensed in Idaho ("pro hac vice"). Also, any court appointed attorney must be death penalty qualified and there will need to be two attorneys appointed that are so qualified...IMO

Just speculating.

A professor at DeSales who taught BCK in his master's program is very connected to BTK (wrote a book about/with him, corresponds with him).

Whether BCK has had any contact with BTK is unknown. But the potential is there. Very likely this prof shared her inside knowledge about BTK with her CJ students.

We don't know what we don't know. It could be something. It could be nothing.

But "birds of a feather flock together" so just dismissing any connection is unwise IMO.

I agree with that too. The first stage is when he becomes a person of interest, and that would be when the car and location match. He becomes a suspect when there's some hard evidence tying him to a crime which would allow an arrest to be made with reasonable certainty that he's the perp.

Wow. 44 degrees in the rain, short sleeved jumpsuit with no coat. That’s cold. They aren’t messing with even the appearance of creature comforts for Bryan.

Maybe he didn't want a coat. While you and I may think 44° in the rain is too cold to be without a coat, many people don't agree. I speak from personal experience where I worked with a few guys that always wore shorts and a t-shirt and sandals 365 days a year. Snowing outside? Shorts & sandals. Below freezing temps? Shorts and sandals.

Also, I'd drive past a LOT of school bus stops for grade school age kids on my way to work and it was rare to see any of them wearing anything warm. Definitely no coats. Lots of shorts and short sleeve shirts. I'd mutter under my breath how crazy they were. lol Perhaps they were dressing for where they'd be spending the majority of their time, and not for where they'd be standing in the cold for a brief period of time. On that note... decades ago I'd go out dancing multiple times a week and had to stand in line waiting to get into the clubs. I NEVER wore a coat, sweater, or anything considered warm for the weather. Why? Because I dealt with a little coldness because once I got inside the club where I'd spend hours, I wanted to be comfortable.

So... with all that said perhaps Bryan didn't want a coat. I'm thinking they'd have provided him with one if he had asked. Then again, it was a few short moments in the rain between a warm van and a warm building so not a real big deal. All MOO.

Agreed. If you look at the 'targeted, community not in danger' and the carefully crafted wording in their 11/16 press conference. I think they had BK leaving the scene almost immediately and knew he was in PA for Thanksgiving.

One of the reasons (besides this being high profile, expediting forensics, more support and man/woman power etc) I think they got FBI involved so quickly was likely because BK was in PA and they weren't sure if he was going to come back.

I think them knowing they had perp DNA and missing on CODIS is the reason this thing was dragged out. No matter how confident they were in their other circumstantial evidence...with that DNA lingering unanswered they coudln't do anything. If they had made an arrest and the DNA came back as not Bryans they might have blown this case.

So they waited on familial and got it back on the day FBI started their surveillance in PA (likely relieving local PA LE)

That "not in danger" was issued well before Thanksgiving. And if he went 80 hours round trip (or are you suggesting he flew?) to PA, why would they then keep that in place AFTER Thanksgiving - because his classmates AND his students clearly place him in WA, in class, after Thanksgiving. No one mentions him missing class. They describe how his behavior changed in some ways immediately after the murders and then in an ongoing manner as well. Rather hyper at first, then tired, almost unable to stay awake in class (and irritable until the prof and students confronted him about his grading, and then he flipped and apparently gave everyone an "A" or something like that).

It's in these news articles that everyone keeps posting. Do you have a source for him going home for Thanksgiving? Nearly all of us have read the same things you've read and certainly are aware of how LE said no danger to the public. It had nothing to do with Thanksgiving. Dec 7 was an important day to him - the day the Elantra was announced as an object of suspicion.

So, do you have any MSM for your assertion?

I do agree that the DNA connection needed to be made in several inter-related ways (including the family genealogy - but even better, have him guide LE directly to his parents' home and get even further proof from there).

They wouldn't have needed GEDMatch after they tracked him to PA, but it definitely provides a nice strand in the net that caught him. So do you think LE tracked him to PA twice? That's an interesting opinion. If so, why didn't they get parental DNA out of the trash when they followed him there the first time?

Hoe did he manage not to miss class? Do you think he flew?

Well…as far as the PUBLIC is aware. At that point in the game notifying the public would most likely interfere and jeopardize any chance of apprehension. It was a NTK basis. The public is definitely in the NOT category. JMOO.

I'll be joining you with the popcorn. Almost all of us have had an experience of becoming a fan of someone, often unexpectedly or out of the blue. Many of my favorite bands are not anyone else's favorite bands and I cannot actually explain well why 1) I *love* them and 2) I *chose* them. I just know I admire and love them. Something "clicked" in my mind when I heard them. Same with my favorite authors.

I have no favorite serial killers. I don't usually follow threads here on WS about serial killers. I unsubscribed from other crime forums regarding serial killers. I don't even have my copies of the Ann Rule books I read about serial killers. I've never "clicked" with a serial killer - the opposite. They appall me.

But imagine a person like BK, who instead of falling in love/admiration with a band or a book, falls in love with the life history and mind of a serial killers. "That's me!" his inner self cries out. "I have found my people! I am not alone!" (Just how I feel about my favorite fictional characters - none of whom are criminals; one of them is David Copperfield, as an example).

I believe BCK had this experience with more than one serial killer. The way some people cathect to sports, a particular team, a particular player. It's an ordinary experience for most of us. Today, people do fall into complex parasocial relationships with criminals. I believe BCK is one of those people.

IMO.

I am with a popcorn and glass of white and will wait to see where this goes. We may better be prepared for some surprises. This case was a roller coaster from the word go and never stopped to produce surprises.

Just watched the video of BK being escorted into the courthouse. He looks very tall, maybe over 6 feet? And he also looks a little bit more muscular or built up then the available photos we have of him. Maybe he’s been training? MOO
