Family asks for help locating missing woman

Deb's husband, John Hendrichs, said it's been more than three weeks since Deb was last seen.

He said she left her car on the side of I-84 heading east at mile marker 238.5 and has not been seen or heard from since.

He said a search and rescue team and police searched the area, but found nothing.

The family said they've visited hospitals, homeless shelters and other locations in the surrounding area.

I haven't found any updates about Deborah's case. This article has more photos and a detailed description of clothing that differs a bit from the OP. BBM
Deb was last seen wearing black yoga pants, a rose colored t-shirt and a black zip up long-sleeved crop top.

Missing Star woman's family pleads for help: 'Every day has been like a new funeral' | ktvb.com

    Feb 20
A month after a Star woman went missing, her friends and family are asking the community for any and all help in finding her.

Deborah Hendricks, 56, went missing on Jan. 11 after she pulled off to the shoulder of Interstate 84 near Meacham, Ore., according to the Ada County Sheriff's Office. She told an Oregon Department of Transportation worker that she had run out of gas.

When an Oregon State Police trooper arrived at her SUV with gas about 25 minutes later, Deborah Hendricks was gone.

Her husband, John Hendricks, told KTVB on Saturday that she left their home at about 9:15-9:30 on Jan. 11 in a state of distress.

The family is urging anyone who knows anything about Deborah to contact the police.

Family of missing Star woman asks public to aid in search

    Feb 24
Her sisters Rhonda Dunn and Cindy Taylor, as well as her husband John Hendrichs, said that family and friends are still searching for her and are calling on the public to share any possible tips with law enforcement.

Hendrichs’ family members said she left her home in a state of distress. Witnesses who spoke with the Ada County Sheriff’s Office told investigators Hendrichs had an argument with a relative that morning before she left the house, prompting her to turn off her phone.

Family members initially suspected Hendrichs may have driven into the mountains, according to investigators, though they were unsure where, and the Ada County Sheriff’s Office specified on social media that she did not take her purse, warm clothes, or essential medication she would need to spend time in the mountains.

In a statement, the office wrote Hendrichs was last seen by her SUV on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84.

Hendrichs had reached out to the Oregon Department of Transportation letting them know she had run out of gas. The person she reached did not have any gas but contacted the Oregon State Police to report what happened. Hendrichs’ SUV was abandoned when the trooper arrived.

Authorities did not find footprints, tire tracks or any other signals indicating the manner in which Hendrichs left the vehicle. The trooper who arrived on scene did, however, notice pickup stopped along the side of the highway about one-quarter to one-half mile from where Hendrichs’ SUV was parked as he was responding to the call, “but that truck was gone after he turned around to go back to where Hendrichs’ SUV had been,” wrote Ada County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Patrick Orr.

Wow that's scary. How do we know she didn't accept a ride from someone and is now missing? I assume they have searched the area well? Remember that young lady who was with friends in a van and disappeared? They found her body nearby the rest stop months later.

There's been no new information on Deb's whereabouts. She has connections to OR and CA. Hopefully someone there will come in contact with her.

Meacham is pretty high up on a mountain pass on 84. Not much up there. Not sure about campsites. There is a casino and travel plaza at the bottom of the big hill just west of the truck scales on westbound side. There is a rest area some where up there I think.
Prayers for you to be somewhere by warm and safe Deb ❤️

Hope this link works, had trouble with it.

This has a lot of very interesting and detailed information that I wasn't aware of. But I haven't read the FB page so maybe it's in there.

At some point, an altercation occurred. John Hendrichs told the investigator that Deborah indicated she was leaving, and that he tried to stop her, but she jumped on his back, on which he had just had surgery, and fled, leaving scratch marks on his face and back. A neighbor confirmed to the Taylors that she had seen scratch marks on John Hendrichs' left cheek.

Family of Deborah Hendrichs says unidentified pickup truck may be involved in disappearance

According to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Hendrichs drove off in her husband’s black Toyota RAV4, which they shared, following an argument early that morning. Exactly what pushed Hendrichs to leave her house, which her brother-in-law Tom Taylor described as her “safe haven,” is unknown.

An audio recording obtained by one of Hendrichs’ sisters indicates that an Oregon State Police trooper responding to a call from dispatch stating a woman was waiting for gas noticed a pickup truck parked behind Hendrichs’ SUV.

When the trooper arrived on scene, Hendrichs’ vehicle was unoccupied and the pickup truck was nowhere to be seen.

    ...
The recording from Oregon Department of Transportation dispatch indicated:
•a snowplow driver called in to report Hendrichs’ SUV parked just past the fog line.
•the snowplow driver said he spoke with the woman in the SUV and she'd run out of gas. He asked dispatch to call Oregon State Police to do a welfare check and get Hendrichs some fuel.
•Roughly one minute later, the trooper radios that he’s driving east, and the Oregon Department of Transportation advises that the state police can’t bring fuel.
•The snowplow driver suggests that dispatch call a local service to get the woman some gasoline.
•Two minutes later, the DOT dispatch calls Umatilla Co. needing clarification about what the trooper witnessed, because someone mentioned a pickup truck.
•According to dispatch, the trooper saw a pickup truck parked behind the RAV4, and the truck was no longer there when he arrived on scene.
(driving east, forcing him to loop around before arriving on scene)
•Three minutes later, a sheriff's deputy in the area reported he had not yet located the driver of the RAV4.

Family of Deborah Hendrichs says unidentified pickup truck may be involved in disappearance

Hendrichs was wearing only one shoe when she left the house and took a blanket, which was used for the couple’s dog, from the vehicle. Two cellphones, one belonging to Hendrichs and the other to her husband, John Hendrichs, have not been recovered.

Terry (private investigator) said this week that a group of people experienced in metal detection will be going to the site in early April to search for Hendrichs' belongings.

Terry questions why law enforcement allegedly did not fingerprint the RAV4 or Deborah Hendrichs’ car keys before the SUV was returned to Star.

John Hendrichs has since sold the vehicle, he confirmed, stating that the loss in income since Deborah’s disappearance made it impossible for him to maintain two vehicles.

On the day of Deborah Hendrichs’ disappearance, she was having mental health issues, John Hendrichs told Terry in a phone call shortly after her disappearance, according to Terry. Hendrichs confirmed to the Idaho Press that Deborah was displaying alarming behavior leading up to Jan. 11.

However, Taylor said her sister had no known mental health issues, though she was taking a week off from work before she went missing.

Cindy Taylor spoke to Deborah on Saturday, Jan. 9, two days before she disappeared. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, she said.

Terry, who spoke with John Hendrichs soon after his wife disappeared, said she woke her husband up at about 5 a.m. Jan. 11 and began a conversation about the government.

At about 9 a.m., Terry said Deborah Hendrichs was seen leaving in the black SUV. A neighbor who was dropping her stepson off at his mother’s vehicle witnessed John Hendrichs running shirtless out the door, stating Deborah was having a mental breakdown and to call 911.

Both the search team and investigators suspect that Hendrichs’ body might be found in the area following a search planned for May, which will be completed in collaboration with the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office and six cadaver dogs when the snow begins to melt.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office said Monday the investigation is particularly complicated as it’s taking place across state lines and with the help of private search and rescue groups. In a statement, the office wrote Hendrichs was last seen by her SUV on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84.

If not for the trooper's account, I would be very suspicious of the husband's story o_O

So DH may have accepted a ride from someone and has never been seen again? Was her purse, cell phone, etc. found in the SUV?

Yes, the trooper saw her. Of course we don't know who was in the pickup behind her. One of the articles said it was dark and snowing and he couldn't describe the truck.

I could draw a lot of conclusions from the article, but some are going to be wrong.
