Police documents reveal new details in Tammy Daybell case

On July 1, Charles Vallow also sent Lori Vallow a text message stating he had plans of going to Idaho to meet with Tammy Daybell.

Detectives said Lori responded, “She won’t see you. She is my friend. She won’t listen to you. Go ahead You are ridiculous.! R u coming to jj for the 4th or not?”

It is unclear if Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell ever met in-person or if Tammy Daybell received his e-mail.

The group also believed that once a person became “exalted,” they couldn't be held responsible for their actions on earth.

“Because Lori was already ‘exalted,’” Pastenes told the investigators, according to their report, “she would often slam her hand on the counter and state, ‘Doesn’t count for me!'”
She still could have that attitude and that might explain why she's labelled unfit to stand trial. I came across an interview with her brother Adam from earlier this year:
"Lori has not changed at all her stand or her, uh, persona...Apparently she's not talking to anybody. So at this point, she can't defend herself because she doesn't answer any of the questions that they ask her."

Chad's romantic prose also describes the moment when he and Lori were sealed at the temple. The story doesn't say who sealed them. It happened around the first day of the Mesa PAP conference, which started on November 16 2018.
Just to be clear, they were not sealed together as a couple. That would have been impossible as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints does NOT practice polygamy and both Chad and Lori were at that time still married to other people. Furthermore, there are very strict guidelines and regulations in place that they never would have been able to get past in order to have an actual and legitimate temple sealing.

First, it might be helpful to the reader to know that there are several types of "temple recommends." These include:

26.1

Types of Temple Recommends
A current temple recommend allows a member to enter all temples. Priesthood leaders ensure that members receive the correct recommend for their circumstances. There are three types of recommends:

1. Limited-use recommend. These recommends are for unendowed members. They are issued through Leader and Clerk Resources (LCR). For more information, see 26.4.

2. Recommend for living ordinances. These recommends are for members receiving their own endowment or being sealed to a spouse. They are issued from recommend book 2. The recommend for living ordinances is attached to a regular temple recommend (described below). The temple retains the living ordinance recommend when the ordinance is performed. The member retains the regular recommend and uses it when returning to the temple.

3. Temple recommend. These recommends are for members who have previously been endowed. They are issued from recommend book 1. They authorize a member to participate in all temple ordinances for the deceased. They are also used when an endowed member is sealed to living or deceased parents or children. For more information, see 26.5.

26. Temple Recommends

1. The limited-use recommend is for unendowed members of the Church (typically the youth) and only grants access to limited areas of the temple, such as for performing baptisms for the dead. Chad and Lori would not have had this type of recommend, nor would it allow them into areas of the temple necessary for performing sealings.

2. The recommend for living ordinances is the temple recommend that is necessary for any person to receive ordinances for themselves (including being sealed together as a couple). This is a one time use recommend which is absolutely required to perform a living ordinance, and is turned over to the temple once the ordinance is performed. In addition, you also need to have a current temple recommend (the third type) to use the recommend for living ordinances. The living ordinance recommend is the one that Chad and Lori would have had to get in order to be sealed together. It would have been utterly impossible for them to get this recommend for a number of reasons (including the simple fact that they were still married to their own spouses). In order to get this type of recommend Chad would have needed to clear it with both his Bishop and Stake President, and Lori would have needed to do the same with her Bishop and Stake President. As they were both still married to their own spouses at the time then doing so would have immediately been grounds for excommunication proceedings for all parties involved since polygamy is not tolerated within the Church.

3. The third recommend is the standard use temple recommend. This type of recommend is the one everyone uses any time they go to the temple. This recommend allows the holder to enter the temple and (subsequent to receiving their own ordinances) perform vicarious temple work for deceased ancestors. This recommend would allow Chad and Lori to participate in sealings for deceased ancestors (which are very similar but distinctly different than living sealings) but in no way could they be sealed together as a living couple themselves as it is a different ceremony requiring a different recommend.

Based on what Chad describes, and what I know of temple work, it is my firm belief that Chad and Lori went into the temple to perform sealings for deceased ancestors and then pretended that sealing was their own when in fact it wasn't. In essence they were playing make believe. The best comparison I can think to make is it would be like a page boy and flower girl at a wedding pretending like they were getting married instead of the bride and groom for whose wedding they were in attendance. In no way was it legally or even morally justified. Worse even, because Chad and Lori were already married to other people and their playing make believe with each other is a violation of the trust of their own families and a breaking of the commandments of God and the marriage covenants they had already made.

All JMO.

The kidults will have a hard time explaining that he had no part in this. IMVHO

He was obsessed from the get-go and made things up to get them together. Also, the part about Tammy being possessed in early October was a way for her to die for his pornfantasy to come true.

Certainly, it was all make believe by that point. If I recall correctly, MG refers to this dubious temple sealing in the phone call that she recorded, and Lori responds that Jesus was there as a witness, and so forth.

A few more tidbits in this article: Police detail cultish beliefs of mom charged in kids' deaths

Lori and Chad also used "messaging systems inside of a popular karaoke phone application" to communicate.

"At times as many as 10 people" were part of their group. (The number previously mentioned by RW was 7.)

Those who questioned the beliefs were pushed out of the group.

People were also given “vibration” scores and trustworthiness ratings, and those with high-enough "vibrations" were deemed to be “translated,” holding special powers."

Some in the group regularly joined Lori in praying for Charles' demise.

After Charles' murder, Alex told another follower that he didn't feel bad because he killed a zombie.

The group also believed that once a person became “exalted,” they couldn't be held responsible for their actions on earth.

“Because Lori was already ‘exalted,’” Pastenes told the investigators, according to their report, “she would often slam her hand on the counter and state, ‘Doesn’t count for me!'”

Now this part, I actually believe ZP!

Just read the "romance novel". As stated above, alternately funny and infuriating at the same time. It is evident this was just what we all thought it was from the beginning, Chad found his dream girl barbie doll cheerleader and it was lust at first sight. For that simple reason, 5 people had to die?

If he really thinks he can give blessings and cleanse her soul, does he see himself as GOD? So we have Lori who thinks she is a GOD and then Chad seems to believe he is as well.

These are some seriously deluded individuals, as if we did not already know that.

ALL OF THE ABOVE JMO.

Please keep in mind that the LDS belief system provides for the possibility of divinity in the afterlife (see Celestial Kingdom et al.), so this isn’t as far-fetched for some folks as it is for others. Lori and the Chadster took it a few steps further and warped it, with tragic consequences. I imagine that as the case plays out in court, some of this will have to be addressed.

Especially since this wasn't just a private fantasy between the two of them, there were others (initially many others) who were drawn in and believed their ideas (although they didn't share them all with all their followers) and everyone was LDS - but on the fringes, not mainstream LDS.

On the other hand, one acquaintance (of mine, not LDS), got into a group that had a teacher who talked about connecting with your (real, not metaphorical) inner goddess, this acquaintance was totally into it, and the teacher, for a while. IMO, people are unhappy with their lives, they are looking for some magic solution to feel better.

From the same link as above (Justin Lum - Reporter) - message from Lori's mother. Suprisingly she's on Charles' side, as long as he's paying all their phone bills.

There is a long text message forwarded to Lori from Alex on 3/2/19. The message is believed to be from their mom discussing Charles and talking to him with the spirit guiding her.
-A week later, Lori responds "Apparently, it is tied to Ned being gone hopefully today or tomorrow." She and Alex referred to Charles as Ned.
-The next day, Alex responds saying "get rid of Ned already."
-By 3/26/19, Alex texts Lori saying "Ned is still alive. Just confirmed." Lori responded "it's not Ned. It's a new one."

Same source as above. Lori's correspondence around the time of Tammy's death. Two new names are mentioned, Audrey and Nicole.

-On 10/18/19, there is a deleted message to unknown recipient saying "Not sure how long we will be here. Until our work is done." Police say this message could be between Lori and Audrey (last name unknown). Photos of Lori also taken in Hawaii at this time.
-10/19/19 is the date of Tammy Daybell's death. Someone texts Lori asking if she heard but Lori says she has not. Police say the person who texted Lori was her friend Nicole who said Tammy woke up coughing, threw up, collapsed and died.

ETA: At the time Lori told Nicole that she was in Hawaii. She pretended that she had no idea that Tammy was dead.

The “inner goddess” trope is common in within women’s spirituality circles. They promote study into some of the early cultures of the world that apparently perceived creation as the work of a mother god rather than (or in conjunction with) a father god. It doesn’t imply actual goddess status in the sense Lori apparently flaunted it. It’s just a way of embracing an empowering spiritual identity defined by a nurturing maternal energy as much as (if not more than) a more warlike patriarchy. Don’t shoot the messenger, folks. Just passing stuff along :)

He really does have the worst case of arrested development - it reads like what an immature fourteen year old boy imagines a sexual relationship to be. I was simultaneously hysterical with laughter and utterly grossed out, but sobered by the thought of the resulting murders.

ETA: I also had to control the urge to correct the many grammatical and punctuation errors

I liked when he once rendered ‘loin(s) as ‘lounge’, lol.

Now this part, I actually believe ZP!

November 22, 2019 - Lori pretended to someone (probably Colby) that Tylee was still alive.

Lori's text to (redacted) about a Venmo transaction: "I text Ty to send it but I haven heard back yet. She will probably just do it before she tells me."

Later: "Hope you got the Venmo. Ty said she sent it late. I'll call you when I get a break. Hope you are having a great day. I love you so much !!!"
