This is not actually "in the news" but I didn't know where else to post it.

Assuming this is legit, does anyone recognize this area?

If the guy (I'm assuming it's a guy) is telling the truth, either there is a body there to be found, or it has already been found and is perhaps unidentified. If we could identify the location, we could forward the info to LE and have them check into it.

    Thoughts?

I've tried reading the postmark or whatever is next to the stamp and can't make it out.
ok, after putting it in photoshop and playing with it, I'm fairly certain it says Chicago IL
I think the date year is 2008? Maybe?

Frank Warren is the founder of PostSecret.com. Frank Warren lives at that address. So, the message might not have anything to do with the area map.

Oh, I see what this is now. My guess is it's just some idiot acting out.

I think the card is showing (possibly) where the body is. I realize it has nothing to do with MD.
Is anything like this near Chicago?
Looking at google map to see if anything matches up

Is that a river running down the right side of the first pic? Hard to tell without color.

Are there any road names on the map? I can't blow it up, so I can't see it well.

    Salem

ETA: It does look like a river on the right side of the map. In the blowup it looks like a highway?

It looks like a river on the right and maybe a trail.
I can't make out if possibly a bit of water on the left. Almost like an island?
Looking along the Des Plaines and IL rivers
    No names on the map

Found it. It's Wooded Island in Jackson Park
    Now what??? OMG now what??
The highway on the right is Lake Shore Dr.
The bare area at the top of the side with the stamp are the tennis courts.

You nailed it! You wanna call Chicago PD? I can't do it right now; Hubby's home and he'd freak if he knew I was involved in anything like this, lol.

So now what? I think the post card is dated 2008 so is this a repost for PostSecret?
Has a body been found on Wooded Island in that time period?
It's not close it's an exact match on Bing maps.

You guys are amazing! I can't figure how anyone could have found that area. Are there any missing women in the area? I still think it's a hoax, but you never know. I suppose the police should at least be notified.

I started looking for Illinois women who are missing and their significant others claimed the women dumped them.

    So far I found

    Brynn Null
    http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/n/null_brynn.html

I think her husband is incarcerated, though... and I'm not sure a married person would use the term 'dumped', as I'd think that's more of a younger/dating term?

According to one post on Reddit, local police have already been informed.
