Circumstances of Recovery The decedent was involved in a vehicle pursuit with IL State Police from Interstate 55 near Black Rd. The pursuit extended through multiple police districts with multiple units in pursuit. The decedent drove the vehicle into Belmont Harbor and began to swim. CPD Marine unit and Scuba were called but unable to locate the decedent until hours later. The vehicle was stolen from Big Basin Marina the evening of 5/20/1989 after 11:30PM. The owner of the vehicle was the reporting party and not the decedent.

Philipp Wade Murphy is a good match in my opinion. He is from Illinois, was last seen two days before uid was found, height and weight match and he really resembles the pm picture.

After posting here I did a little research by entering his name in Google, found a Reddit thread and a Thread here and someone already submitted him. Somehow I was not able to find the websleuths thread by using the search box.

Fwiw, Murphy's NAMUS page hasn't been taken down...yet? Hopefully he was a match and it's simply two different jurisdictions taking down their respective cases NAMUS pages at differing speeds.

I really wish Chicago police set up the NamUs for John Doe sooner since Phillip has been in Doe Network/NamUs since 2012.
