According to her county court records (link is here and just search using the last name, it didn't come up with first and last name and you can select her name from the drop down menu that comes up. https://www.judici.com/courts/cases/case_search.jsp?court=IL059015J

There was an order of protection against an individual in August of 2016. You can find the person's name if you search but since they are not a named POI I will not list here. They have a history of felony arrests What caught my attention was her divorce was final the 16th of January this year, just days before she went missing.

If you look at the history of the order of protection it mentions that the court was concerned over the number of suicide attempts by Denita. The judge dismissed the case as they were both at fault.

Denita was also divorced in 2006. At that time her married name was Plunkett. She had filed an order of protection against that husband as well.

Her divorce was not complete. It was still in process. The date you see was the date the information on the web site was uploaded. There is a status conference set for February 13th.

Rather concerning that she files for divorce in October 5th of 2017 and then has a fiance already.

There are approximately 100 participants involved in the search effort,” Lt. Kristopher Tharp, Deputy Commander of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis, said today. He is also a Madison County Sheriff’s Office representative in the case. “There are participants involved in the search representing police and sheriff’s departments, search and rescue teams, and fire departments from all over the state of Illinois and Missouri.”

He continued and said, “the search is ongoing, but this is an effort to make a dent or find clues as to why she so abruptly went missing. Some missing items may well fill in the missing puzzle piece. We hope to have some answers to questions we have.”

New article and some new information.

New information has been revealed in the search for a missing Macoupin County woman. 37-year-old Denita Hedden visited the Ameristar Casino with a friend on January 25th before returning to Royal Lakes later that evening. Whether or not that plays into her disappearance is yet to be determined.

Bbm. Not necessarily concerning imo. I've know of people who have postponed filing for divorce due to financial constraints even though their marriage had been over for many years. If Denita is in a lower income bracket it's quite possible divorce was delayed solely due to finances.

My immediate concerns are whether something bad happened while out celebrating her birthday that those celebrating with her wanted to hide. Her case made the ABC nightly news so the case is starting to get national attention.

OK, she celebrated at the casino earlier in the day or evening, came home and left again at 11pm? I hope LE is pinging cell phones and checking GPS if avail.

She left at 11pm and was reported missing how many days later? Do we know who reported her missing?

The person that reported her missing was what the media and LE have variously said was a roommate or acquaintance or on her families posts said to be fiance and the report was made on Sunday the 28th. So about two and a half days later.

I note that it says she went to the casino with a friend (not plural). So this wasn't like she was out with a bunch of people but rather with one. I also get the impression that it was not the roommate/acquaintance/fiance either.

As was reported earlier she used the roommate/acquaintance/fiance's truck when she left to celebrate her birthday. The truck made it back home but she didn't.

What I have been wondering about is why the Major Case Unit is handling this. Normally this would fall to the sheriff's department for the county having the lead. Thus it leads me to think that they are certain of foul play but not saying it, or Denita is connected in some way to some other case/activity and/or individuals that would draw the attention of Major Case or one of the potential suspects is connected to the sheriff's department in some way and Major Case is handling this due to conflict of interest.

The casino mentioned in the news article I linked is the Ameristar Casino in St Charles Missouri. The article also mentioned that she had returned to Royal Lakes - I presume that information is coming from the person she went to the casino with.

Those are all good possibilities. I could also be the town/county is so small they aren't equipped to handle the case without outside help. Its unusual in that I rarely first hear of a case on national news rather than here at WS. Somethings definitely going on behind the scenes.

There's something hunky about the roommate waiting any amount if time 5th report her missing. If I had to guess, Denita celebrated with someone other than the roommate, a fight occurred with roommate after Denita arrived home. Denita'so family tried calling her for days and the roommate could no longer make excuses for why she was unavailable and then reported her missing. That's my theory.

Where was roommate between the time Denita returned home from the casino and the time she was reported missing?

With the situation the way it is the three people that need to be looked at are the last person known to see them alive - likely the casino friend, the current relationship - the "roommate", and the soon to be ex. Naturally, depending on what the circumstances are with the "roommate" then perhaps their most recent ex, so perhaps 4 people to start with.

The area is very bad news. Small little village but i know of several awful cases from there.
Then the Sheriff is pretty new. We have had several bad cases in Macoupin County for it size. Dont get me wrong there is some towns/villages that are good in Macoupin. I moved there in 95.
