Deceased/Not Found IL - Denita Hedden, 37, Macoupin County, 25 Jan 2018 *Reward*

I couldn't find Denita in NAMUS the other day. If this turns out not to be Denita the family or the Missing Persons group they are working with should get her in there.

MACOUPIN COUNTY — The instructions were simple on Saturday before searchers combed a rural Macoupin County area for clues to the disappearance of 37-year-old Denita Hedden.

“If you find something, don’t move it, don’t touch it, let us mark it,” said Aaron Patterson, the search and rescue coordinator for Missing Persons Awareness Network, the group that organized Saturday’s search. “We have several areas that we’ve deemed of interest and those are the areas we will be searching.

Here's what State Police are doing to get a full list of missing people in Illinois

For the family and friends of missing woman Denita Hedden, life has become a waiting game.

Each time a body is found in the Southern Illinois and St. Louis area, they hold their breath, simultaneously hoping it's her and praying it's not. Police suspect foul play in Hedden's death, but have yet to find her body.

Their situation isn't uncommon. All across the U.S., there are thousands of unidentified bodies lying in county morgues, and thousands more missing people.
To help see if some of the missing people and unidentified bodies match up, Illinois State Police and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are partnering with police departments across the St. Louis area to collect DNA and update profiles on missing people.

During an event May 19 in Fairview Heights, families of missing people will be able to give DNA samples, which will go into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. Officers will be available to check on police reports of missing persons and make sure everything is up to date.

From the article ...

Hedden disappeared on January 25, her 37th birthday. She was last spotted near Royal Lakes, just 13 miles from the water where crews were searching.

Sheriff Khal said his team found something that may be evidence, but they’ll have to send it off to the lab before they know for sure.

“It’s something I really can’t talk about at this point in time, because I can’t really confirm whether it’s tied in with the Denita Hedden case or not, but it was something that we kind of felt strongly that we need to come out and check it out and it could possibly be tied with that case,” he said.

I wonder what came of the potential evidence found in June at the lake? If she was last seen at the casino I’m sure they have reviewed cameras to see if she was followed? What is her typical route home? Could she have been in a car accident? Did she win money that night? Drinking? With anyone? I just skimmed through the last page here, so maybe these questions have been answered?! I feel sad for her children and family. Sending prayers they find answers soon.

The truck she drove to the casino in was returned to the home so no car acccident but how she went missing after that is unclear. It's been almost a year - I pray this family gets closure soon.
