Authorities in the Quad Cities say a Rock Island man is missing and presumed drowned after a fishing accident in the Rock River.

Sgt. Curt Lewis of the Illinois Conservation Police says authorities searched Friday for 44-year-old Larry Grunewald without finding any trace of him.

Lewis says Grunewald was one of three men in a canoe that capsized in the river Thursday afternoon. The other two, Charles Long of Rock Island and Brandon Haff of Moline, made it safely out of the water, but Grunewald did not.

Sgt. Lewis also says that although Haff and Long admitted they were drinking in the boat, it is not known whether alcohol caused the boat to capsize.
