Missing Person-Galena-8/7/2020
On 8/7/2020 the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a Missing/Endangered Person from rural Galena. A Laura A. Kowal, age 57, was last observed in the area of her residence in rural Galena on 8/7/2020 at approximately 12:00 PM. Kowal is described as being a white female, approximately 5’05” in height, 150 lbs with Brown hair and Hazel colored eyes. A clothing description for Kowal is unknown at this time. Kowal is believed to have left her residence in a white 2016 Honda Pilot with Illinois registration XBB323. The last known direction of travel, as well as destination, for Kowal is unknown at this time. Any information regarding the whereabouts of Laura A. Kowal can be reported to the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office at (815)777-2141. A recent photograph of Kowal as well as a photograph of a white 2016 Honda Pilot (not a photograph of the actual vehicle) has been attached to this press release. This case remains under investigation.

The home is in the Galena Territory, which is an upscale golf resort.
I live in the area. The terrain here is very hilly with lots of steep embankments, so a car accident is a possibility.

Time last seen was around 12pm, according to the Sheriff's Dept.

No news here locally this morning. There are many friends and neighbors expressing concern on social media. A lot of people are asking if her dog Effie is missing, too, because Laura often took the dog with her - but Effie is at home.

Huh. The video at the news link I shared says 12am.

I actually googled because it could be considered both 12am or 12pm. ( the googling confused me even more). Midnight technically could be considered 12pm but 12:01 would be considered AM. The video you posted did say "midnight" so that could very well change the thinking here. I hope it gets clarified. IMO

Body of woman found in Missouri believed to be missing person from Galena


The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office reports the body of a woman believed to be that of Laura A. Kowal from rural Galena has been recovered from the Mississippi River near Canton, Missouri. While a positive identification has not yet been made, authorities say the description and other identifiers are consistent with the missing 57-year-old woman. An autopsy has been ordered.
Kowal was last seen Friday, August 7 when she left her home.

The Honda Pilot was found about 20 miles north of Canton, in Warsaw, Illinois in Hancock, County.
