Sheriff Dart is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing woman from Leyden Township.

Lauren Willhoit, 30, was last seen on Dec. 30 leaving her home in Leyden Township and has not had contact with her family since then.

Willhoit is approximately 5’5” tall and approximately 175 pounds. She has green eyes and brown hair.

Anyone with information about Willhoit’s whereabouts is asked to call 911, the Cook County Sheriff’s Police at 708-865-4896, or the Cook County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number at 847-635-1188.

She was out on bond in 2021 following an arrest for possession of a controlled substance (marijuana is legal in IL), drug paraphernalia, obstruction of justice, and destruction of evidence. She had an earlier arrest for drug charges in 2018. Police Reports: Elmhurst for April 20 I'm hoping she just left to get away from the repercussions of that as opposed to harm.

Willhoit's sister, Michelle Osborne, said she is doing everything in her power to find her missing sister, whose disappearance has left a gaping hole in her family.

“It is the not knowing that is killing all of us," said Osborne. “I just don’t know – she could be being trafficked for all we know – which is why it is so hard to find her.”

Willhoit's boyfriend reported her missing.

Susan Julie, who is with Missing Women of America, is helping in the search.

“A hundred times out of a hundred, one person knows where the person is,” Julie said.

“She is a beautiful girl,” she said. “We just want to know she is okay and for her to come home.”

There are reports of her being last seen leaving home on Dec. 30th but also reports of her being last seen leaving a hotel on Dec. 31st.
Lauren Willhoit, 30, was last seen on Dec. 30 leaving her home in Leyden Township and has not had contact with her family since then

Lauren Willhoit, 31, was last seen leaving a hotel on Mannheim Road in Leyden Township on New Year’s Eve.

Which is it? Was the hotel info not discovered until later in the investigation or is the hotel sighting unable to be confirmed?

The boyfriend reported her disappearance... was he also the one who last saw her at the hotel or...?

Lauren is featured on this week's The Vanished podcast

Melrose Park is an interesting village - it's not far from O'Hare Airport, so there are people that come from everywhere that stay in hotels there (as they're more reasonable than those right next to the airport), etc. There are a number of 'adult entertainment clubs' in the area too, and it still has a heavy Outfit presence, though for the most part it's quite underground these days. Anyway, Lauren has been missing for a while; I started looking for her as soon as her NAMUS profile was posted, but I've only hit dead ends. Anyone have any ideas on where she is?

Well, this person doesn't know what she is talking about.
I think what she means is that there's at least one person out there somewhere who knows where Lauren is - as far as I can tell Lauren didn't drive, so wherever she went someone had to take her there - be it an Uber, or a friend, or someone she met. I suppose the exception is if she walked off alone to an abandoned house or into the woods someplace (self-harm), but while always a possibility, in this case that seems like it would be at the bottom of the probability list.

-Lauren had been headed to the Best Western Plus O'Hare Hotel in Franklin Park, IL, (3001 N Mannheim Rd, Franklin Park, IL 60131) on Dec.28th, 2022 to meet up with an unknown friend from Indiana. Lauren stayed in a room with an unnamed person from Indiana; her boyfriend knows who they are; the police are seeking that person but have not been able to locate them as of January, 2024.
-Lauren's phone died on January 4th, 2023, and has not been turned back on since.
-Lauren's bank accounts have not been accessed since she went missing.
-Lauren's sister was able to access Lauren's Google and Apple accounts, but Lauren had tracking turned off.
-There has been no activity on Lauren's social media accounts since she went missing.
-The hotel does have CCTV coverage of the property, however it is only saved for 5 days, and it had taken 2 weeks for the family to figure out exactly what hotel she had gone to. It should be noted that it is unknown if she actually made it to the hotel.
-All Lauren had with her was the clothes she was wearing and her purse.
-Lauren maintained regular contact with her mother, sister, and boyfriend. Her boyfriend did say she would leave on her own for 2-3 days at a time every now and then, but doesn't know where she was going.
-A trucker had called in a tip stating that a female he sincerely believed was Lauren was seen at aa Knight's Inn in Indianapolis, IN. The hotel manager said this female was with a White male, and 'hotel hopping' (going to a different hotel every couple of days) - the manager stated they paid with cash.

Very strange about the lack of activity on her banking and social media. On the one hand, good, bc no one robbed her or is trying to impersonate her. On the other, if she were alive there should be activity. Are there any theories about what might have happened? Has the boyfriend been cleared?

Several podcasts included interviews with her sister and ex-BF who stated that she had a long history with drug involvement, specifically heroin, and on several occasions had used a little too much. They said she was involved with a 'bad' group of people, and was also involved in petit crime (and had some arrests etc in this regard). In addition, there are more holes in her timeline than was first noted, and her sister and BF seem to be holding back on certain pieces of important information.
